Anyone Starting At UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing?

Published

This thread is for anyone who is trying to get into, currently at, or graduated from Shadyside School of Nursing in Pittsburgh!

Hi all,

I applied to UPMC Shadyside SON for the Fall '08 full-time program and still havent heard anything. I took the PSB test on 12-1-07 and passed everything. (My scores were: vocab- 99 math- 95 reading comp- 96 and science- 83)

When did you all receive your acceptance/rejection letter? Does anyone have an idea of when they think I might here something from the school?

Im just going crazy waiting to here something! :uhoh3:

This is a good time to practice being patient, they do not move very fast at Shadyside. The first time I took the entrance exam, it took them so long to notify me that I passed that I was forced into the Evening/Weekend class.

Also, a new full-time class just started (ME) :yeah: so they might have their hands full at the moment.

Thanks so much for the info strider! Good luck in your classes, hopefully by fall we'll get to meet!

You probably won't hear from them until May.......I was in the same situation as you last year......took the test on December 2, had all of my application materials in by Jan. 1, and then I waited until May 8 until I got my acceptance letter. With your scores, I'm sure you'll get it. Good luck!

I just got my acceptance letter yesterday. So I will be attending in the fall. Anyone who is attending there now I was wondering when a good time to look for an apartment would be ? or where to start looking?

Thanks in return

Congratulations on your acceptance! If you're planning on living close to the school, I would look in Friendship, Bloomfield, and Shadyside for something close. Start looking around Mayish, esp if you want/need more than one bedroom. I was looking last year in July and had a hard time finding a place.

Again, Congrats from a June '08 grad!:yeah::yeah:

Congratulations from another June '08 grad.

Hope you have a great time. It's hard work but a lot of fun.

I have no info on apartments, but I just wanted to tell you congratulations. You will love the school!

Hey everyone!! I am applying to UPMC Shadyside for the Fall 2008 semester as well. I am scheduled to take the PSB test on 5/17. Can anyone who has recentely taken this give me any idea what to expect? I have one of the study guides listed on the school's website and let me tell ya, I feel VERY unprepared for this. I only have 3 weeks...I am signed up for the next to last test date for the year so 3 weeks is it!!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!! :-)

Hi! There are 4 parts to the test....Reading Comprehension, Reading Vocabulary , Math and Science. Make sure that you REALLY know your science. It is the hardest part of the test. That being said, it is doable.......I passed with a very high score after not being in school for several years. Good luck!!!!!!!

I've been debating today on whether or not to take the test in May as scheduled. I really feel like I dont have enough time put into studying and dont want to fail it. I think I've concluded that I"ll study my butt off until the test and if I still feel unprepared, I"ll hold off until the Spring semester.

Science is definately my weakness so I began REALLY studying that today in the book that I do have. I'll be getting the Gooding guide this weekend.

Thanks!

I personally thought the recommended study guides were an excellent prep for the PSB. Good luck, I hope you make it into Shadyside, it's a great school!
