Hi.

I'll be going to SK by January 2011 to do my SEC assessment in med-surgical area. My question is do you think it is possible for me to find a job after my assessment and while waiting for the results?

Thanks.

You won't be able to find a job as a nurse because your registration will not be completed until your SEC results are known, you've been given approval to write the CRNE and you've obtained temporary registration. All of that will take at least several months. But if you want to work in the service industry you might be able to work. Do you have a work permit??

Thanks for replying janfrn.

I do not have work permit. I'll be getting a temporary resident visa. I was thinking if I can work as a caregiver or any work as long as i am earning while waiting for the results. I know that I am not allowed to work because I do not have working visa but lets say if i get a job, do you think I can process my papers in canada given that the employer is willing to sponsor me?

Many Thanks.

To get a work permit from within Canada you still have to meet requirements that are laid out on the CIC website and will need a LMO from your employer. Suggest a good read on the CIC website Working Temporarily in Canada

First of all, let me reiterate that youare NOT applying for CRNE eligibility, you're applying for registration with a provincial college of nursing, a requirement for which is successful completion of the CRNE.

Continuing Competence program requirements are individual to each province and documentation in the proper format is necessary. You must clarify that section of the form as it applies to you WITH THE REGULATORY BODY in question, not with anecdotal information from the internet. The members of allnurses.com are generally intelligent, knowledgeable people, but they are not experts in interjurisdictional regulations.

See my first paragraph above. Second, please read all the thousands of posts in the International forum that relate to IENs coming to work in Canada. There is an abundance of information already shared here. Be prepared for a VERY LONG period of testing, assessing, obtaining paperwork, filing more paperwork and the expenditure of a LOT of money. It will most likely be 2012 or later before you'll be ready to come over to work in Canada.

Hi babyjr, I got my eligibility from SRNA after 11 months of waiting and it is worthwhile. SRNA is really strict in documentations and they need to verify every details as what I experienced from my previous months of waiting. Keep the faith burning babyjr!!! Goodluck to your application.

to bobbantom- I know what you feel and it is really upsetting for you. SRNA are not making money to any IEN it is just that there are too many applications are coming around the world. If you want to know your status you can call them directly and ask them. Just what I did. Goodluck to you.

Hi crushbandicoot. Have found a job in SK already? Did you hire an agency or applied online by yourself?

I called SRNA a few weeks ago, they are still working on the previous' years applicants. I submitted my application last August 2010. How long will i still have to wait for the checklist?

hello, i just wanted to ask, is it true that the required IELTS score in applying for the IEN in Saskatchewan is: speaking-7.5, writing-7.5, listening-8, reading-7. for all those who applied for SRNA, did you get the minimun score required or better? please advise

If that is what is stated on their website then that is what is required

Finally, after 1 year and 8 months I have received my eligibility to take the CRNE. Now, my problem is I have a present immigration application in Canada, and I do not know if the visa will be issued within a year, as the validity of my eligibility is one year only. Can I apply for a visit visa while I have an ongoing PR application or should I find a job instead for a TRV?

Hi Dacboo! Sorry for late reply! It's been ages since I last visited this site again. Honestly, I forgot my password lol so I just created a new account instead. :) Anyway, before I leave our country I got already an employer and I was one of the hired nurses of January 2009. I am currently working here in SK as Registered Nurse.

I took my exam last June 2009 and passed it yehey! Currently they stop hiring IEN :( but never lose faith there might be a better plans for you. Never stop dreaming!!! just wait for the right time for you. Keep it up! for those who believed on the beauty of their dreams keep the faith burning.

Happy New Year Everyone!
