I was looking online, because I'm bored and reading all of these posts about people not being able to find a job, and thought about Alaska. I looked in Fairbanks and found a hospital that has job openings. Experience is preferred but not required. It also says they pay a 5000 dollar bonus and a 5,000 dollar relocation reimbursement and up to 2 months paid transitional housing for a 2 year agreement.
It's worth a look into it if you are able to move. It just seems to me for the people that have been wasting time not having a job for a year, could have already had a year's experience. (not that I'm saying you haven't been trying.) I haven't really looked too much into it, because I haven't started school yet. I was just seeing what's out there.
I have some friends that came from Fort Wainwright, which is right next to Fairbanks and they said they loved it up there. I mean heck, people go on cruises to Alaska right???!!:redbeathe
Just food for thought:o Have a great one!!

OMG I would love to live in Alaska I wonder if there'll be anything like that when I get out of school..............
Probably. If they are still giving signing bonuses right now during the recession, I'd say there will be even more incentive to work there.

That's strange because I had read recently that it is very hard to get a job in Alaska.

job postings don't mean jack (call to get confirmation), the hosptial i work at continued to list nursing jobs, including new grad jobs for over a year when they weren't hiring any new grads or filling some of the other nursing slots being listed. they've finally started hiring a FEW new grads (not as many as they use to) and filling some of those slots that have been listed for over a year, ha.

Sorry, I had already closed the browser. If you google hospitals in Fairbanks, you can search their job listings.

if you go to fairbanks be prepared for minus 65 below zero in the winter and a lot of darkness in the winter also. i spent 2 1/2 yrs in the air force there. it's a wonderful place, loved every bit of it. and the summers are warm and 24 hours of light. :):):)

I currently live in Fairbanks/Fort Wainwright and could probably answer any questions anyone may have. I am headed to Columbus, Ga in 2 weeks to attend Columbus State Univ. I have had 3 winters here in Fairbanks, and attended the University. Just let me know if I can be of any help!
