anyone who passed the vermont nclex?

Published

Hi all,

My friend just passed the vermont nclex, she has been asking a lot of friends about reciprocity. I even asked Suzanne about this and she gave a very clear answer on it. But because of too many opinions from other nurses, confusion arose. They said that not all states has reciprocity to vermont, can please enlighten us on this. Thank you

If she already passed the NCLEX exam then she can apply for endorsement to other state BONs. She has to meet the endorsement req'ts for the state she plans to endorse to. If it says it still needs the CVS (NY) or CES or complete the DOJ and FBI fingerprint cards then she needs to accomplish those too to meet the endorsement req'ts of that state BON. It differs from state BON to state BON. Better check the website of the particular state BON she plans to endorse too.

I know for a fact that a foreign grad RN endorsing to CA BRN from another state usually takes 2-3 mos. (as their licensing unit replied to me re: that query) because they will wait for the DOJ and FBI cards first and as well as review your TORs.

Goodluck. Hope I was able to help. ;)

In addition, your friend can be petitioned already by showing the proof of passing the nclex regardless of what state BON she passed the NCLEX or got licensed. Proof of having passed the NCLEX is all that is needed.

She can also be petitioned by an employer from another state and start the immigration process and while waiting for the whole process she or the employer can do the endorsement process at the same time. Usually, the endorsement process takes much less time than the immigration process so she would have successfully endorsed to the state of intended employment even before the immigration process is finished.

Hope I was able to help a bit.;)

Lawrence, does vermont issues a hard license to someone without SSN after passing nclex?

Yes, I believe so.

To clear up a few things.:

1. No state license has reciprocity with another state. Only the NCLEX-RN exam has reciprocity, meaning that once you take it and pass it, you never have to take it again. Your results will follow you.

2. After you get your license from Vermont, or any other state, if you wish to work someplace else, you just need to apply to the new state, you do not transfer a license, you just get issued a new one in the new state, so that you will now have two, etc. The original license stays effective until it expires, if you do not renew it. You would use the application called

"License by Endorsement" and you still need to go thru what ever procedure that the new state wishes. Example: NY requires the CVS, if you decide to work in NY, then you will need to go thru that process, before NY will issue you a license. Soem stgates still require the CGFNS exam, if you did not take it, and wish to work in a state that requires it, such as Michigan, New Jersey, or Connecticut, you will need to take the exam, before they will issue you a license for that state.

3. Vermont will issue you a hard license, but it takes about one month.

4. So do not rush to get a license in a state, if you are going to work some place that has additional requirements. It will not save you any time at all. Just cost you alot more money.

very true.....take the NCLEX exam for the state where you want to eventually work.....God bless to everyone!

QUESTION: IF I HAVE TAKEN AND PASSED CGFNS CP-EXAM, AND I DECIDED TO GO TO STATES WHICH DOES NOT REQUIRE SUCH, INSTEAD REQUIRE/S CES OR CVS, WILL I STILL UNDERGO CES/CVS? OR MY CP IS ENOUGH? HOPE TO HEAR FFROM YOU... THANKS:uhoh3:

NY will still require that you do get a CVS, for the others it is up to that state. CGFNS exam passing is not an evaluation of your credentials, they are two different things. Each state can set their own requirements and they vary widely.

As stated above, pick the state where you plan to work, in most cases, but really do consider not going for initial licensure in CA, unless you want to get your results of the exam around Christmas time, if you are just starting the process now.

Thank you to all who replied, God bless
