Hi.,I took my Nclex this week and my test was sooo hard I got a lot of questions on drugs,I am so scared waiting or my results.please helppp!!!
Thanks 4 the info! I really hate waiting I feel like I'm going to be sick, I just had a bad feeling. I just talked with a friend and she says that you'd know the computer is giving you hard questions = you're answering correctly if you are getting questions with highlighted words, is this true? coz my last 5 ? i think only 2 of them are highlighted. bout 77 and 78. then overall, I didn't get much highlighted questions. does that mean i keep getting it wrong? Feedback much appreciated!
Hi,You really can't judge by the number of questions you got. I got about 120 and passed, I have one friend who got all 250 and passed and another friend who got all 250 and failed. I know in WA and in CA that your license will be posted on the BON website after about two days, even before you get your results from the NCLEX.

Sorry, but CA doeesn't participate in quick results. Earliest that anyone will see their name posted is about 4 days, on average about two weeks, and it can go as long as four weeks or so.
Pearson-Vue posts results in two days provided that your state paticipates in early results.

This is the first that I ever heard of highlighted questions. No, they do not influence the score. What does are the type of quesitons, such as more priority, etc. But again, no one has a crystal ball to predict.

It's not an entire question that is highlighted. It is just one word. It is done to highlight a specific instruction or a word that the examinee needs to pay attention to. Such as, which would you do first? Round to one decimal place. That type of thing.
Hi! I just took the nclex and itwas hard! I still don't have my results and I read in some of the comments that the computer has to determine that you have a 95% efficiency to pass? all of my friends who passed stopped at 75 and I stopped at 80. what does it mean? I remember some questions and i think I got about 20 mistakes more or less. If there are 15 pilot questions, what's the probability that I'd pass?
The 95% is not a score. You stop getting questions when the computer is 95% sure that you have reached the passing point. That is pretty standard for testing. The determination for the NCLEX exams can't be made reliably without at least 60 questions. That's why for the RN exam every one gets at least 75 questions - 60 "real" questions and 15 pretest questions. Don't worry about your 20 "mistakes." Most candidates get about 50% of the questions wrong.

Those highlighted words have nothing at all to do with being more difficult. The one that is asking aobut first, is asking what would you do first, such as who would you see first when gettin gout of report. The other is just for a math questions, it means that you need to put if the answer was 10.6, not round up to 11 or if 1.2, then state that, not just 1.

I am not sure if PA participates in quick results with Pearson-Vue, if they do, you can check your account and pay the $7.95 fee and find out if you passed tomorrow (Saturday). Otherwise you can go to the BON website and go to the section that says license verification and type in your name, if it is there, then you have your license. Not sure how long PA takes to get licenses posted. But that is where you would look.

Goodluck Jayvee. If there's any consolation.. if majority of your questions are hard then it means that you were able to correctly answer previous questions.
keep us updated.

From what I could make out from the materials published by the NCLEX folks, you absolutely cannot tell how you did from the number of questions. It is not like a normal test. The computer gives you question. If you get it right, it gives you another one alittle more difficult. Get it wrong and the computer gives you one alittle easier. At some point, the computer comes up with an average "difficulty" of the questions you are getting right. If that level of difficulty is high enough, you pass. If not, you fail. The minimum number of questions you'll get is 75. If the machine clicks off then, you either did well enough to pass or the computer figures you aren't going to "catch up" if it keeps going. If you get more questions, its because the machine can't come up with an average high or low enough to decide. The subject categories seem fairly random. Some folks get lots of math, drugs and anatomy and others get none. ..... As for finding out early, our state board of nursing has a website listing all RN's. I took my NCLEX on a Thursday and my name showed up on the website Friday afternoon. I didn't get "official" notification for several weeks. .... Best of luck. I have a close friend who worked at an NCLEX center and she maintained you could tell if someone was going to pass or fail when they walked in - just from how nervous they seemed. Don't know if that's true, but I know it helped to come early, get a cup of coffee, take a walk around the office building, take a deep breath and think of all the wonderful folks who did so much to help me get there. Thanks to them all, go in and kick a**.
