I started on August 15th. at 43 Let me tell you I can certainly relate to those brain cell issues. I can still, learn and do, but it sure is taking a little longer then it used to... Honestly, I am usually the last one finished with a test, and I used to just hustle right thru them.... I am busier then I have ever been in my life, but also happier so its all good!

Thanks! From your lips to God's ears. Have already been reading my textbooks and counting down the days til classes start. It's going to be fun!

"i start class on the 25th of august and turn 48 on Sept. 3, excited and a bit embarrassed to be oldest student. but hey, i figure the 'kids' in class don't expect me o be able to keep up so i should feel less pressure? plus, just think, after we graduate the patients will figure we know what we are doing because we are so...uh....seasoned looking

mark"

Hi, marklw

you just may be surprised there may very well be some that are older. I turn 52 on Sept. 4 and there are some older than me in my class.

...and what you said about being seasoned looking.? "right on"!!:smokin:

I am 48. Been at this thing almost half of my life with it's ups and downs. I failed RN school - 8 wks to graduation and can't go back to that school. I have had it hard because I had no backup -- had to work. I will go back and get my LPN if I can't find an RN school to accept me. LPNs and then RN I believe is better for me. Close your eyes and just do it. You would be 40 or older even if you didn't. At least you will be 40+ doing what you want. I am quite sure you have other accomplishments in life outside of nursing. Don't be so hard on yourself.:clown::clown::clown::clown::clown::clown::clown::clown::clown::clown::clown::clown::clown::clown::clown::clown:

41 and just finished. I was not the oldest person in my class.

I am 52 just finished school ,July 11. Waiting to take the :yeah:Nclex. Also sarting back to school in Sept...

I was 47 when I began. There were 33 people in my nursing class, and 1/4 of them were over 40. One person was 59. She is an RN now and working in maternity. Be encouraged!

AWTY, thanks for sharing about the now 60+ y.o. RN. You don't know how encouraging it is to read that others older than me have gone on to successful nursing careers. (I would love to work in maternity someday, but I have a ways to go.) Your post encourages me, a "seasoned" mom of 4 who's barely 2 months into her LVN program and already asked by one of her instructors why I'm doing this now (is this because of my age and the fact that I have school-age children ). Honestly, I'm not sure how to take that comment, but that's okay, I'm pressing forward, diminished brain cells and all. :chuckle

Thanks for sharing.

Blessings!

kimmik, way to go  & congratulations! What pearls of wisdom can you share with us who are still in school and pre-menopausal, menopausal, or post-menopausal? :D

Thanks.

Way to hang in there, "beginning." I applaud you for not throwing in the towel.:yeah:Whether LPN or RN, I'm sure you'll do well. And yes, there are other accomplishments in life to be grateful for.

Blessings!
