  2. ohdaughterofzion, please let us know how your feeling. I am praying for you!:nuke:
  3. Ok, i was walking into walmart the other day and the greeter at the door stops me and asks me if i know anything about bone spurs and proceeds to describe his symptoms. I've never seen him before in my life and don't start NS for 2 more weeks. That was strange. Am I starting to get that NS student look?:wtosts:
  4. I don't work there but a friend of mine just started there. Not sure what she makes but I know it is pretty good.
  5. When i took my skill test it went something like this, "Hi Bob, my name is Cindy, I'm going to be doing some ROM exercises with you, I am going to wash my hands, and provide privacy." Then I would proceed and explain to the patient exactly what I would be doing and so on and so forth. You want to be sure and verbalize everything just to make sure. Hope this helps!
  6. I got the rings that you put your index cards on. Kinda handy I think.
  7. "i start class on the 25th of august and turn 48 on Sept. 3, excited and a bit embarrassed to be oldest student. but hey, i figure the 'kids' in class don't expect me o be able to keep up so i should feel less pressure? plus, just think, after we graduate the patients will figure we know what we are doing because we are so...uh....seasoned looking mark" Hi, marklw you just may be surprised there may very well be some that are older. I turn 52 on Sept. 4 and there are some older than me in my class. ...and what you said about being seasoned looking.? "right on"!!
  8. LBS 2008, Don't let this opportunity pass you by. I can totally relate. I sold stuff on ebay and am having a garage sell this weekend. Where there is a will there is a way! You can do it! I'm assuming you've already talked with the financial aid person. Cause I thought I would be short also, but wasn't because of the way the quarters fell. So I am able to apply for more money in 2009 to make up the difference. My problem was I had to pay for books and uniforms out of pocket! What a chunk that was:bluecry1:, oh my! I luv ebay:D.
  9. Yep, I took my test on Tuesday, got my results online on Thursday and got my card in the mail on Friday. What a week!! I had to have this certification for Nursing School. Ready to roll now!
  10. Hi All, Oh yea, I am definately over 40 and "terrified" is the phrase I will use. I am in orientation right now and will start regular classes toward the end of Sept. They have let us know that school will rule our lives for the next year and make plans now, get your life in order. They also told us we will need to bring a suitcase to carry our books home in. Its been a very stressful month with all the shots, getting certified for cpr and first aid, and getting my STNA, and to top it off I haven't seen the financial advisor yet. But I have to say that the excitement and anticipation is wonderful. Can't wait to dig in! Hope all goes well for all the more aged NS (like me) starting their LPN this year.:wink2:
  11. Hi Everyone! I'm new to this site! Well, after reading as many of these threads as I have been able, I have to just say its true what they say about LPN school. I've just started a month long orientation and have to admit I'm just a little scared:stone. No really I'm alot scared. The instructors are great, no problem there, but the work load? WOW. However, if I can come up with the dough to pay for this year, then I will give it my best shot!! It's hard to imagine that in a year from now I could be an honest to goodness . How cool it that! So just wanted to say hi and tell everyone that this is the best info site I have found and I am grateful for all you experienced nurses that take time help us along our journey.
