Anyone notified yet? Sac State CCE ASBSN program 2011

Published

Did anyone hear from Sacramento State CCE ASBSNc nursing program yet? Applications were due September 15th. Last week I received an email asking for more information but I think they needed it for tax purposes. Applicants are supposed to be notified before or on October 1st...but I'm anxious. Did anyone go to the information sessions in July and August...how was it? I found out about the program a week before deadline and rushed my application in so crossing my fingers I'll get accepted.

Sepool, you're definitely in a better position than I am. I'm #8, so I've pretty much prepared myself to not get a spot. It's definitely hard waiting, not knowing what's going to happen, but as I mentioned in an earlier post, I found out about this program on a random, luck-of-the-draw, way, so I had kind of prepared myself to be attending a 2 year school. The emails we got do say that they basically won't update us about getting bumped up a spot if an alternate is called, so I guess you never know until you get called up or you call to ask.

Yes, I applied to the traditional tack program and really hope I get in. Sac is definitely in my top choices for school, because it's close to home for me and 2 years seems like a good amount of time to soak up information (if I don't get into the ASBSN program). Did you also apply to traditional track?

jwong00: Yes, I did apply to the traditional track program, but I'm not confident about being accepted because of how competitive it is with the GPA points. My GPA is only 3.4 and I have a feeling that the competition is strong with plenty of 4.0 candidates. Like you, I found out about the ASBSN program by random one evening when I was looking on the Sac State website. I got my application in right away the next day on August 8th, but I had no idea how long the department had been accepting applications at that time. Had I known about the program earlier, I would've pitched a tent by Napa Hall and been the first application in :-) A first come, first served selection process is so rare. I'm also applying to Sac City and American River colleges.....both ADN program applications are due October 14th for spring 2012. If you haven't already, you may try your luck there too. It's not a BSN degree, but it'll still get us to work as RNs. Best of luck to you and I'll post if I hear anything.

Sepool, did you get the email??!! I'm SOO excited!!!!

I JUST DID!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it. SO glad you had good news too!!! Life is so funny. I had kind of let go of hope after our discussion here. Beyond excited! We will be classmates then, looking forward to meeting you in person. My name is Sarah. Congratulations to us :)

Sarah, I was just telling my friend that I totally had let go of hope of getting in! I had just accepted it and was holding out hope for the traditional tract. But now, I'm so so excited! My name is Janice; I'm excited to meet you too :) Do you live in Sac or will you be relocating there? Congrats to us, indeed! :)

Yes, a very big, wonderful surprise today! My husband and I just moved to Woodland last month (which is about 30 minutes away if you don't know the area). We were both born and raised in Woodland, but have lived the past 10 years in San Luis Obispo for college and work. I could not get into nursing school in SLO, tried 2 years, and then my husband got a good job offer in Sac, so we decided to move. The fact that I have a spot in the program makes me feel confident our decision to move was a good one :) I know school is going to be so intense, but it's going to be great! How about you, relocating or already here?

I will be relocating from the Bay Area, which is a little nerve-wracking because now I need to find a place but that doesn't stop me from being excited. How funny! I went to Cal Poly for my first undergrad degree! I love that town so much! I wish Cal Poly had a nursing program. Did you apply to Cuesta? You definitely made a great decision to move up north! School is going to be very intense but we will get through it. I think the structure of the program is great. Lots of breaks in between and 10 week terms, which is what we are used to from Cal Poly :)

Hi - I thought I would break in to the conversation to say that I have also been accepted! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you! I live in Rancho Cordova, which is only about 15 minutes from Sac State. I agree that the format of the program - 10 week semesters - will work out great, especially with the breaks in between each semester.

Congratulations to all who have been accepted!! :yeah:

Yay runningrn2be! This is really exciting!!!! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. Congrats to all who were accepted!!

Hi Sarah and Janice, I'm so happy to hear that you both got in. I'm looking forward to meeting you on Nov 18th at orientation. My name is Sabina by the way, and I live in Placerville.

Runningrn, I think I may have followed you in another thread for Fall '11. I was wondering if we would meet up at some point since it seemed we were applying for the same programs. Congratulations!!

Maia99 - Yes, I have applied to several programs, and actually gotten in to them, but once I got accepted I never felt it was the right time to quit my job and go to nursing school. This time, however, I feel like it is the right program at the right time for me! I'm actually going to be able to keep my job until the end of the year, because I have some vacation time I can take while we are in class for the 1st 3 weeks. I was really happy that they sent us the tentative schedule - we will have long days, but not very many days per week, which will allow me to keep working.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at the orientation! :)

Hi runningrn2b, I understand completely. I've waited for a while for the right time and program. I was accepted into Samuel Merritt's ABSN also, but this program feels like a much better fit for me. It's a happy compromise between the SMU's accelerate program, and the CSUS traditional track. I'm hoping that I'll even find the time to catch a breath once this gets going.
