Anyone been to Montefiore in Bronx, Ny?

Can anyone give me the good, bad, or ugly?

PM me if you would like.

That sounds easy, but I worked the 9-9 shift, I encountered the WORST drivers I have ever dealt with, during rush hour!! Also, in order to park in the garage I had to stalk people leaving and follow them to their car to get a spot.

I was put up at the Marriott in New Rochelle, they told me it was temporary until an apartment in Yonkers opened up, but I never got one. A lot of travelers that started when I did didn't have cars, thinking it's NYC they can use public transportation. But they had to use the bus, took them about an hour.

I'm O.R. we had to take a pharm/math test. Fairly easy calculations and pharm questions, but one women failed and was sent home.

All in all I would go back, but only for the 7-7 shift, and I would insist to have the apartment right from the start.

HEy im thinking about starting the operating room there in December. How is it?

People tell me that it isn't good but the pay seems great:)! Fill me in please

Thank you for all the info everyone. I received my NY license (in 3 weeks). I am submitting for NICU. The housing is Residence Inn in New Rochelle or Yonkers. Does anyone have any info on the parking for the Childrens hospital? I would be doing nights initially.

FYI on licensing in NY, the person at the office of the professions said most delays are due to college verification delays.

I think I may do the OR in December too. Anything I need to know before I sign my contract? Do you have to prep the patient and position all ready for the doctor, or do they have residents that do that..? Also are the staff members fairly nice to travelers?

Let me know if you get any scoop on the OR there. Also do they require you to scrub and circulate?

I would call the hospital itself and ask about the parking situation.

Hello, I recently accepted a travel assignment at Montefiore in the ED, and I sense transportation might be an issue (at the Einstein campus). Is there anyone here currently at Montefiore, or has been there recently and can give me the scoop?

Are you taking the housing stipend or letting them house you?

I was housed in Yonkers when I worked there, and managed to take public transportations some times, but by the time I woke up/walked to the train stop/ etc. it took about 2 hours one way. Ugh. Fortunately, I found some travel nurses who I could catch rides with.
