I need help finding a job in new york for an LPN...I live in Jersey and have a CMA(Certified Medication Aide) license thought jobs would accept that since they trying to fade out LPNS and bringing in CMA ...I have 1 year and a half as CMA thought it would give some credit for LPN since i do almost the same thing as LPNS ..i need a JOB QUICK !!!!

I don't think med aides do what LPNs do. You pass meds. They pass meds, do treatments, call doctors, take new orders, deal with families. Unless the scope of practice for a CMA has greatly changed, I really don't thin you can say you do what LPNs do.

LPNs and CMAs are not the same,at least here in GA. As an LPN I have to go to many assisted living facilities to give insulin shots because CMAs aren't allowed. Also the pills are already packaged and sorted. I am often asked to come "look at a patient" so the skill set is not the same. The CMA course here is 4 hours long and the LPN program 18 months. How long is the CMA program in NJ?

Have you tried agency nurse position? I was surprised to find out that some of the agency nurses in my facility had 0 nursing experience and the agency company hired them.

that's so insulting AS A NURSE to say that we as LPNs have the same job description as CMAs. lol. WOW.

They t trying to fade out LPN to cma certified medical assistant which is 2 yrs at a tech school diploma
