hi there
anyone know of any direct hire hospitals in USA anywhere:(
please post if you do:wink2:
Now, how is possible that a hospital would do the employment process? Is that implying that the nurse is sorting out her own registration, green card etc herself? Isn't that suppose to be such a big headache? Maybe is faster? Would anyone explain us, here with some examples?
Thank you!!!!
Hi everyone!, I'm also looking for a direct hire in any hospitals in Florida. I just recently passed the NCLEX-RN for Florida BON and have a valid visascreen Cert. My concern is that, Are they accepting foreign nurses? I am filipino citizen, presently working here in Dublin, Ireland as Registered General Nurse for over 5 years now. I desperately need an employer in order to obtain my SSN and so my permanent license will be issued then. Please, anyone, your help will greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and God Bless Us All!

You need to contact hospitals in the area of Floida you want to live. The issue I see you having is retrogression and the effect even for a hopefully short time may have on your process.
Thanks Silverdragon 102 for the input. Yeah, with the news re: retrogression, I think we may need to wait a little longer. Anyway, no worries, I still have permanent job in a Learning Disability Hospital in Dublin, Ireland as a Staff Nurse, been here for over 5 years and already a resident. I heard that what USA hospitals needed most in order for the applicant to be hired is that your most recent employment should be in a clinical setting. I had 8 1/2 years of acute hospital experience in the past, but if they would prefer recent exposure in a clinical setting, what are my chances in applying for direct hire? I just learned this from all nursing agencies, how true is this? Please, I need your opinion Silverdragon 102 and to anyone who can give valuable advice and suggestions. Thanks a million in advance. God Bless Us All!

The agencies like you to have recent acute setting experience as you are more like travel nurses and don't get much orientation, I have not had acute setting experience for over 4 years now and the hospital is aware and has no problems. They appear to provide a good orientation and preceptorship program which I feel as a foreign trained nurse is important. I would get in touch with the hospitals and see if they are willing to petition you
Good luck
Thanks again for your help Silverdragon102. May I know how did you apply for direct hire, is it thru online and submission of pertinent papers thru post? or you came personally to the hospital and had your personal interview? Thanks for giving me hope and enlightenment re: issues of current acute hospital experience as pre-requisite for initial employment to USA. Initially, I'm considering to quit my present job and apply in an acute hospital. I may as well start sending now my applications for any hospitals in Florida. If you hear any feedback in any hospitals that is willing to petition me, I would greatly appreciate it. Goodluck to your visa immigration process and hope and pray that you'll get your visa before it runs out. Thanks again and God Bless!
Depends where you want to go. I got direct hire, but I'm in Florida. I can give you some contacts in Florida if you want, but not sure if that's where you're headed to.
Hi Letina,
I hope you won't mind sharing also to me info re:hospitals in Florida that accept direct hire. Maybe you could send PM on me please. Just recently passed the NCLEX-RN for Florida BON, Sept. 16,'06, pending issuance of my permanent license until I submit my SSN. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a million! God Bless Us All!

not a silly question, it is a hospital that will directly hire a nurse instead of doing it through an agency
