I can't find anything more than a short paragraph about it here:

there must be more information somewhere? Has anyone applied?

Nobody's heard anything about it?

Well I know 2010 spring are at tulane now. they were scheduled to be at West Jeff. classes start Jan 11th. maybe if you narrow your question down just a little I can give you more specifics

Specializes in Peds and Well baby.

I graduated from this program in 2008. If you would send me a personal message I will send you the email of the person at OLOL/TUMC that will answer all your questions

I am going to be starting the accelerated program in olol college in spring 2010. i have read these posts and feel thrilled there are graduates who are willing to help. please help me out . i am very enthusiastic to be in this program and i want to be successfull. could graduates enlighten me on the program particularly the pharmacology course which i hear is difficult.

i may also need help on the environment, since i will be coming from another state. obviously, some of my classmates reside around this area. please could i be in touch with any of you so that i could get some guidance as i relocate to this area.thanks

SOrry, that was a bit vague on my part. I guess I didn't realize it was an ASN program. Do you know *roughly* what GPA statistics you would need? How competitive is it? When is the deadline for Fall '10?

Thanks much!

OH its ok really :specs: Well admission into the accel ASN program is fairly competitive. It is pretty competitive since there are only 50-60 available spots in e. program so your grades and degree shouldn't be the only things that stand out about you and why you would make it thru the prog and become a great nurse. But dont be discouraged or overwhelmed. If you want to go this route you just need to have a driven but patient mindset. Admissions requirements are on http://www.ololcollege-edu.org/content/admissions-academic-programs-accelerated-asn-program-program-admission-requirements... 3.0gpa in all nurs prereqs, and at least a C in each prereq course (which is rather confusing seeing that if one did have all C's, the gpa would be a 2.0). Also, when I applied I distinctly remember a BS degree being one of the admissions requirements but now I dont see it...they may have done away with that req.

I'll tell you something abut this though. I have a 3.2 gpa in all nurs prereqs and it took me three times before OLOL came to their senses and accepted me. But, a very good friend of mine had a 2.6 in all prereqs and was accepted for the very same progream I applied for--her 1st time applying!! So there's no telling. I'm not saying ignore the admissions criteria, Im just saying, if youre interested in pursuing an ASN thru the accel program it couyld be withint your reach.

I believe the deadline for fall '10 might be March '10. But im not absolutely sure. This prog is pretty new and its seeming like some kinks are still being ironed out so the date could change.

The prog lasts about 10 mos I'm hearing. Its roughly two years of nursing school crammed into less than a year. Ive been told that the coursework is demanding but well worth it after the 10mos vs 2yrs.

Thank you so much for the info! That must have been frustrating applying 3 times! Did you apply anywhere else?

Did your friend with the 2.6 have work experience that helped her stand out?? I don't have any so I'm a bit concerned about that.:o

Tell me about it! I cannot even imagine the amount of material to be covered each day of that 10 months.

No she never had a job or any volunteer work..there was nothing really extraordinary.

SShe did have a vibrant,down-to-earth persnality though. And she had completed two semesters of a master's program in biology but could not maintain the gpa requirements. And we laugh about that now because just when you think things cant get any worse and youre feeling hopeless, theres something else better waiting on you. its all apart of God's will and whats meant for you, if yu ask, you will get it..on time .She just graduated from OLOL accel thurs last week.

Good luck
