Are there any nurses that just want to do their job? No fuss No muss Just leave me alone to work, work ,work!
No kidding I want a job where the aides don't think they are nurses, give meds w/o dr orders, get ua's w/o authorization, etc.
Any such animal in Oregon?
I am not here trying to get people not to like me or to ignore me but I am here to post an OPINION...The original post was

Where I live aides can do these things...if they are trained...KEY WORD TRAINED.....at work I don't act like I know more then the nurses. At the place I work there is one RN to 60 pts...we have two RNs and 4 halls of 30+ people on each hall and two aides per hall...so I have 15 pts myself and I get to know them and their families more then the RNs but sometimes the RNs come and get them ready and help with ADL ...sometimes....I don't have to get orders from an RN..I get one side of the hall and the other aide gets the other side..I have had the whole hall in one day to myself....I get them ready..feed them...change them..turn them...give meds...do caths...clean caths....do iv's....change o2...and everything...I have had an advanced CNA class...I am not mad at the RNs and LPNs for being paid better or having higher education because I am in school for my RN..
As for the man who was not a nurse...I don't admire him someone posted i should chose a hero wisely...I did not say he was a hero..just that just because you don't have the education does not mean your not as smart as the Rn....that's it...I think he should have gone on to school but he was smarter then most of the nurses who had the degree...and he is in jail....
sometimes the RN doesn't know anything about the pts and if the nurse took the time while assisting the pt then they would know a little about the pt and could get them to do things...while giving the pt meds etc they could ask about the pictues on the wall or their life ..something to make the pt talk and then the pt will allow the RN to do things....
also as for the orginal post I don't do things unless a doc..says..but if the doc..as giving authorization..then I can..
Again I am not here to get people to hate me or dislike me...I love this chat board and would hate to quit using it but I am posting my opinion...and MISHLB the two of us know we don't get along and disagree on everything...and you posted
And you wonder why we get annoyed with you???
i get annoyed with you as wel.... and your post
Remember that song by Madonna..."Borderline"? Nuff said.
uncalled for.... and yes I know that aides act as if they know everything...blah blah blah.....but I am not one of them..i will repeat...I have been trained to do what i do and do it for a reason..but I get tired of people thinking because the have a higher degree that they are better and they know more when SOME don't...ok some nurses act like a doc..but their not..
Are there states where CNAs are licensed to do IVs?Originally posted by lpngaWhere I live aides can do these things...if they are trained...KEY WORD TRAINED.....I get them ready..feed them...change them..turn them...give meds...do caths...clean caths....do iv's....change o2...and everything...I have had an advanced CNA class...I am not mad at the RNs and LPNs for being paid better or having higher education because I am in school for my RN..
yes...I have anywhere from15-20 pts (depending on which hall I work) and I do everything...we only have one rn to two halls..i do meds as long as we don't have an lpn on our hall that night..do you all have pct 1 2 and 3? A PCT 1 is a CNA and if you train you move up to 2 and 3. I have a friend who works at an area hospital and she is a PCT 3 but they have just listed her as a Medical Assistant and she reads EKGs and EEGs and does ivs, caths, draws blood, etc....
:rotfl: Oh man, can't believe I missed that. Yes, that all seems very likely. What about radiology reads? Minor surgical procedures? Don't hold out on us!If you're a medical assistant, you're a medical assistant. If you're a CNA, you're a CNA. That's my deal. Reading EKG's and EEG's? Come on lpnga, get real. What do we need doctors for then?
I did not say I was a medical assistant (why don't you read the post)I said a friend of mine was listed as a pct 3 and they have just listed her as a medical assistant...not me....what's the deal with not understanding that they train people to do this? She has been trained to do this...
It is very obvious that lpnga just wants to argue. I live in the south and have never heard of any such a thing as she is describing in Georgia. That is absurd. People think that the south is slow and if you believe what she writes then we should be thought slow. She needs to get a serious grip on reality.

There are so many problems w/ CNAs thinking that they are the boss, resenting nurses for having more educations and making more money, etc. It is a big problem.
When I worked on a nurses only, no CNAs unit, the care was much better and the staff problems basically disappeared.
And....YES, I was a CNA for three years myself. I respected my nurses, did my job, and did not resent them for being in a superior position to me. No wonder when I worked agency as a CNA, facilities used to call the agency and specifically ask for me.
And yes, I have many years of experience in LTC, as a CNA, and LPN and as an RN.
I have left LTC never to go back- The number one reason I left is hostile, insubordiate, downright dangerous CNAs who try to run the place and are far more trouble than they are worth.
galpn has earned an "ignore" from me.
Now, does anyone know where the original poster can get the kind of job she is seeking in Oregon?
