Are there any nurses that just want to do their job? No fuss No muss Just leave me alone to work, work ,work!

No kidding I want a job where the aides don't think they are nurses, give meds w/o dr orders, get ua's w/o authorization, etc.

Any such animal in Oregon? :bluecry1:

lpnga,

I live in Chattanooga, TN and I know that we have PCTs here because I am a PCT 3. You are correct I do IVs, Blood Sugars, VS, Etc. but I disagree with how long it takes..It took me almost a year to get my PCT 3. I will check with my manager on that. They are trying to get a PCT to LPN bridge here because we don't have many LPNs and this would give us a pay raise. I hate to hear of everything that has happened to you, it all seems to happen at the same time. I have been there and done that.

Thanks PCTNTN...finally someone who can tell these people the truth..

Greetings everyone. I am usually just a silent eye who reads everything that comes through this forum. However, as moderator, I think it's time to step in. This thread has been going more and more off the topic of Geriatric Nursing, and heading more towards a general nursing discussion. It is becoming obvious that some tempers are flaring. I am asking all of you to please treat each other with respect, regardless of qualifications, and lets get this going back to 'Geriatric' nursing. If this thread continues along the same lines it has been over the last few days, I will have no option but to close the thread... something I really don't want to do. If you wish to talk about qualifications, there are general nursing discussions going on elsewhere on this board, as well as other places on the internet.

Tracy!

moved this to general nursing....

O.K. I have to give my two cents. I have been in nursing 38 years. I am an LPN. I am very sorry I am not an R.N. because most of the time people say OH your just an LPN, I have my prerequiset classes but no money to finish and have not figured out a way to work and go to school for the next year. On to the subject: I really feel the CNA's that work "with " me like me and respect me. The CNA's that work agaist me hate my guts. The word is do you love what you do? I know that there are people in this profession that are in it for the money, no matter what their position. They put in the time and go home. It is gratifying to read there are CNA's the listen to the residents or patients. There are nurses that feel the pain and try to help, then there are the ones that like to just put in time and go home. That 's what it is all about meeting the need's and listening to the hearts (not physically).

Thank you for this nursing fourm. Reading all the inputs from other medical personel is realy enlighting. Thank you all for the time you give to us all of you.

Oh for the love of Pete!

Yes I would love to just work and work and work so that my residents/patients/clients could benefit greatly....my legs wouldn't, but they certainly would a great deal then I'd feel that I made a great BIG difference instead of just a difference in so many lives.
