Seems the governor of New Mexico is looking to recruit NPs to her state. The pitch seems to be what most on this board are after, less practice restrictions.

Here's the article.

TX RN, I'm familiar with the state, and there is alot to see here. From Taos (beautiful artsy, skiing community in northern NM) to Albuquerque (largest city in state) to White Sands National Monument to the quaint little town of Silver City in SW NM (where I live). Not to mention Carlsbad caverns, Las Alamos, Santa Fe, and numerous other attractions and sites. Just like one would be hard pressed to get a feeling for all of TX in one trip, it would be hard to get a feeling for all of NM in one trip, but if you want help narrowing down your possible destinations based on your interests pm me.

Specializes in MSN, FNP-BC.
I'm not familiar with the state. I may just have to vacation there with the family. It will give me an opportunity to get a feel for the area.Anyone familiar with the state have recommendations?

Either way, you will fly into Albuquerque so I recommend staying there. It's where I live and work and play. NM is an amazing place to love if you have a love for adventure and the outdoors. Camping in the summer is nice because there are n bugs. Snowshoeing in the winter on the Sandias is an absolutely e BLAST! I could go on and on!

And yes, it's a great place for a midlevel practitioner to work!

Let me know if you have any questions!

@nursetim: Having grown up in NM and travelling around "third world" south america...WHAT the Heck are you talking about?!

I love NM and fantasize about moving back often...I mean...er...it's awful, totally ugly terrible place with no culture or beauty! :)

Having not worked there, I have heard from a few NP friends that you are solo...but only as much as you want to be. I would recommend joining a practice where the Doc-NP relationship is colleageal and collaborative...NOT about delegating scut to the solo midlevels.

Sounds tempting but how hot does it get there? Are there actual four seasons anywhere in the state? I'm a native of the northeast and love the cold and snow and having lived in the south cannot tolerate high temps. Quality of life is important!

Dry, and hot the more south you go, but not as bad as Arizona. High 90's in summer, but yes, all 4 seasons, with snow. Autumn is beautiful in SF and Taos

Lux... Thank you. I admit that I've heard good things about Taos. Perhaps I'll look into this!

Santa Fe and above is nice and with mild weather, due to higher elevation.

Ok. At home now from work and looking at a google map of NM. I'm going to search for jobs in NW NM. My lease is up in February and I'm free to move wherever. Let's see if this is a good move for me. :)

Can anyone recommend a good job site for NM? I typically look at indeed and do a google search for jobs but is there a special place I can go look?

Indeed is where I look.

Hmmmm... not a whole lot of jobs listed on indeed. Granted, there are some but not as many as I expected. I'll keep looking.
