Anyone heard from Deaconess about summer start admissions?

I just wanted to see if anyone has heard from Deaconess regarding whether they were accepted or not for summer? I put my application in back in February and was told I would know something on Friday, April 1. I emailed the admissions rep, but still haven't heard anything. Anyone else in the same boat?

Thanks!

Well, all I can say is atleast you two aren't alone in this area. I think we are all feeling each others pain at this point:)

Keep us posted and I'll do the same.

I feel ya'. I too have contacted them this morning, but was told that there has been no decision yet. So--I really don't know what to think at this point. This is the "only" way that I can earn the nursing certification..... Still waiting to hear from them. :o

I called yesterday afternoon and was told that the Dean of Admissions was out of the office and that the committe hadn't met yet. If you don't get accepted for Summer 05, who here plans on applying for Jan 06?:wink2: Kelly

I know we have all talked about this before (spring, summer and fall start dates), but I might reapply for fall. I don't know. It depends on the reasons they would give me for not being accepted. If it is because of clinical sites, then maybe I would reapply for fall while I worked to secure a new site. I had already had plans on attending a local hospitals nurse extern program for the clinical site, but I missed the deadline to apply to that since it has taken Deaconess so long to decide about my admission status.

I'm already accepted to three other programs, though not as convenient, atleast I could hold a spot and know I would be set to go on "x" date with one of them.

Hopefully we are ALL accepted and we get to go back and laugh at this (our time of being uncertain) during our summer clinical skills validation trip to St. Louis:)

I forgot to mention that when I called yesterday I asked again about the FAll start and mentioned that I knew of someone who started last fall. I was told that they used to have a fall start but were no longer offering it because of clinical saturation. However, when she spoke of the clinical saturation I remember her saying something about St. Louis, so maybe the program isn't available to those in STL...I don't know. If you speak with them again it might be worth asking about since each of us seem to get a slightly different answer each time! It would be wonderful if we were all accepted and could sit back and laugh about this, at the very least we have already developed a support system with each other.

I plan to reapply (only way to earn cert while working full-time), but I hope I don't have to resubmit all of my paperwork, transcripts (4 different places), etc. I really hope they keep up with everything.

Some time ago, seems like I may have set up an account to log onto the Deaconess site, but can't remember a login or password (over 1 year ago). Did anyone else set up an account?

I will for sure apply for 06 if I don't get in for 05 start, I am just so nervous I just wish I would just hear something. I wonder how soon we would have to reapply and if we would have to send in all our paper work again ?

I don't know, but they probably will tell us if we don't make the cut. :o

Have you looked into the Weekend and Evening Program at Maryville University? I have heard so many good things about that program. Maryville is another option for full-time working adults. I have an appointment to meet with a counselor there to discuss the program.

This is so funny just two hours ago I called them again. I had spoken with them a few times about both their day and Weekend/evening programs. The W/E program requires that you have more math than I currently have and a statisics class completed on top of the ones that I have already finished (i.e a&P, psych etc...) before you can apply to that program. The day program has a small waiting list for fall 05, but still is an option. However, there is a new program starting this fall at Maryville (pending state approval) that is an accelerated day BSN program just like their W/E one with the same preq requirements. What makes it more appealing for me is that I could attend during the day when my kids were in school (the W/E is tough because my husband works Saturdays and my son has baseball games). If I do this I would complete the math and stats classes and apply for the accelerated program in fall 06. The program is going to be 4 semesters offered in Fall and Spring (no summer session) so I would be able to complete a BSN by May 08. Of course my first choice is still DCN but I am keeping my options open. Thank you for taking the time to make the suggestion!

I called yesterday 4/12 in the afternoon was told that the admission office would be contacting everyone one way or the other today 4/13 either by mail. A friend call early that day and was told that they would be contacting people by phone between the the time of 9am to 7 pm so who knows, I am not sure what the hang up is or why. I am getting really discouraged though and very worried I have talked to my place of work and I have been told I can do my clinicals there as they are a teaching hospital and other nursing schools around the area have students there also so I won't have a problem finding a place to do clincals, all I need to do is get accepted, I just feel so sad right now :o

It's now after 7:00 did you or your friend (or anyone) get a phone call? :o

Hi Kelly-

I too am waiting to find out if I have been accepted into the summer program. I recently called and talked to the admissions counsler that has my application packet and was told that my application was being reviewed for some new "project". So, it sounds like I may be a guinea pig if I do get accepted. She told me to give her a call on Friday the 15th and they should have made a decison. My biggest concern is that I live in germany and I won't have all that long to get my books if I am accepted.

The anticipation is killing me! My husband is going downrage for an extended amount of time and this would be perfect time for me to start.

I JUST WANT TO KNOW NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck and let me know if you hear anything, and I will do the same.

Take care! God bless our troops!

Angela
