Anyone heard from Deaconess about summer start admissions?

I just wanted to see if anyone has heard from Deaconess regarding whether they were accepted or not for summer? I put my application in back in February and was told I would know something on Friday, April 1. I emailed the admissions rep, but still haven't heard anything. Anyone else in the same boat?

Thanks!

Hi carly0313-

I recieved a call from my admissions counsler last night(Germany time) and I GOT IN!!!!!!!!! I got in though because someone decided not to start this semester. They are still waiting for info about the additional 20 students, but still no news yet. Are you keepng in touch with your admissions counsler? I think by me e-mailing and calling everyday helped me get in.

I would call your counsler and talk to them. Keep you fresh in thier heads so in case someone else decides not to start this semester, you can take that spot.

Don't give up hope!!!!!!

I got "everything" crossed for you!

thanks for the encouragement, I am not going to give up I feel to close to give up, I know that if I don't start this time around I will start in Jan 2006! I have been gathering all my information for the clinical site ( which is where I work) should I continue to work on this or wait until I get accepted in the next group or in Jan 2006 to go ahead and give this information to the clincial site? Do I need to contact Deaconess first, I forgot to ask about that when I called. I did called on Monday afternoon and they told me that Scott would be returning my call but I never heard back he must be really busy, so I tried again today about 3:30 and got a recording so I left a message. A friend was told that if she didn't get in now that she would be in the next group for sure ( jan 2006). I feel real postive about Deaconess, especially after reading Cheri's message I know I am making the right decesion for me, and even if I have to wait ( hoping I don't) until Jan it's worth it! It's good to know that there were students from the state of Washington there at the clinical evaluation, because I remember awhile back there were someone from either CA or WA wondering if either of these states accepted Deaconess graduates. So they must now because there was someone there, that is great! I will keep truck'n along , and if anyone hears anything new let me know.

thanks,

Carly

I would like to say congratulations to everyone that was accepted for the summer semester and I would also like to encourage those that are still waiting to hear to keep calling and not give up.

I just returned from St Louis yesterday evening, where I completed my clinical validation for Life Span I (OB & PEDS). Overall it was a good experience and I had the chance to get to meet the professors and my classmates for the first time. I learned so much and most of all I gained alot of confidence in myself and in the Deaconess program. We did our validations at St. John's Mercy Medical Center and we were very well received. Our class was split into groups and then each of us were assigned a PEDS patient and then the next day we were assigned a Postpartum Mom or a Newborn in the Nursery. The facility is awesome and I was very impressed.

Note: There was someone here asking about students in WASHINGTON...well one of my classmates was from WASHINGTON...so I guess that confirms that DCN does accept students from that area of the country.

Best Wishes to you all...

Cheri

Hi Cheri,

So glad to hear you had a good validation experience. You sound like you are chugging along in this program. I also had vals and they were great. Our instructor is fabulous and I wish I could keep her for the rest of the program, lol.

Glad to hear all is going well. I would imagine you have med/surg next and then you would be done the pn portion?

Good luck to you

just thought I would let everyone know know I finally was able to talk to someone from Deaconess today, wasn't very encouraging tho, was told they are still working on the approval ,which I am not sure what that details or what approval they are talking about but once they find out anything they will be contacting people, he told me otherwise figure I would start Jan of 2006. I just wonder why those of us who are waiting to be accepted aren't able to talk to a counselor we are alway directed to someone from admissions office. Is this the same procedure that everyone goes through? Oh, well Iam just glad I was able to talk to someone, even though I felt they seem a little put-off with me. I feel less stressed. Just wonder for those that haven't been accepted yet have you heard anything yet, what have they told you? Would be nice to know how many of us will be in the January 2006 start? Again congratulations and good luck to everyone !!!!

Carly

Carly,

Are you wanting to talk to an academic advisor? The ASN program doesn't have one right now since she recently quit. To my knowledge, they haven't hired anyone yet for the position.

Why don't you email the Dean of the distance program with your questions and see what she says? If you want to PM me, I will give you any email addresses that you want. (I just don't want to post peoples names and email on a public forum). I would certainly try that. You might get some more in depth answers this way.

Take Care and Good Luck!
