Anyone hear from CSU stanislaus for fall 2010?

Published

Hello everyone. Does anyone know when they send out the decision letters from CSU stanislaus? I got into the ohlone program but it is an associate program and since I'm planning on getting a BSN eventually I would really rather go to a CSU right away than take the long route to get there. The other two CSUs I applied to sent me waiting list letters. I'm happy to be in any program, but I noticed that ohlone doesn't have some things the CSUs have, like a pediatrics class. Any ideas?

No, but im going to call right now.. I just didn't want to call too early because i didnt think much has changed since the weekend! and actually... are they celebrating memorial day weekend? So not open today?

Yah true...but call tomorrow!

Courtcatt,

We don't have to pay until the deadline in August which I believe is the 16th. Patterson is a little out of the way, I'm coming from the Sierras in the East!! Maybe there is someone else out there who wants to carpool.

Chelsieg,

They must have been working today because I got an e-mail from a teacher.

how much is due on august 16? I dont even know how much tutition is...i need to get on that

apoppy- i called, they didnt pick up. plus in their calendar it says that campus is closed today so maybe your teacher was working off campus?...but thank you.. Im so nervous but i dont wanna hold my breath. I guess moment of truth tomorrow?...

Wish me luck ladies!!!

xoxo

the tuition is going to go up with the budget stuff. Last semester it was $2750 so I guess around $3000. I went to Stan in 2004 and FT tuitiion was $800 so it is shocking how much it has gone up. I made an itemized list of everything I could think of and searched the online catalog so here is what I found out. Because of my commute I'm looking at about $5k or more the first semester.

Parking permit--$128

Materials fee (catheters, etc.) 127.00

Book package $348 new or less for used

Get a good stethoscope that you can hear out of, like a Littman. If you can't hear you won't pass your clinicals.

Watch with second hand

Uniforms

Transpo costs (to memorial, doctors, St. Joseph- stockton, and maybe even a weekend at Madera Children's)

CPR for medical providers

Background check- $42.95- (may be due every semester)

And all the vaccines, titers, etc-- $500 approx.

If there is anything else we'll find out at the orientation, but this is all that Tracey said to worry about. Again it's a lot, but it will so pay off to have a BSN because we can do anything we want with it.

On a side note, has anyone taken the ATI pharmacology test? I may need to take it because I already took pharm and I'm trying to waive the class at Stan. I need to know how to arrange for the test, if it's proctored and how to prepare.

a poppy,

Thanks so much... your a life saver. chessie.... any word?

Court- i called today and they said the list is basically at a stand still until their deadline to reply about their intent which is on june 10...so ill call back then...

Man. im crossing my fingers so hard i can barely feel them anymore.. i hope i get in...I mean i dont want to hold my breath because it already took quite a few to get near to my position on the list, but hey.. hopefully those people in front of me find some other place instead of stan... :)

@apoppy- dont you guys just go to health services or county health and they cover for some of it since you guys are going to be nursing students?

Chelsie,

From what my friend said, the student health clinic is the cheapest. I checked around and I concur. For example, the Hep B series is about 1/2 of what it would cost at my local health dept. Remember, school is a business. Nothing at Stan is free like at the community college level. But the health clinic will do the varicella titers for practically nothing, and I know it could get expensive elsewhere. If you have your shot records you should be good on that, but I don't have any medical records from my childhood. Anyway, good luck to you and try to enjoy life while you wait to get accepted.

apoppy-

Have u started your vaccines? I dont know where to start. I know it says to wait till the orientation and they will go over everything but should I just get the ball rolling? Should I go to my doctor or should I go to the schools clinic? Sorry to ask so many questions....it just seems like you know a lot more than i do!

Hi courtcatt,

I called the health center and asked for an appointment and they stated that I would need to call back in August. You have to be registered to get an appointment and they couldn't tell that I was registered, even though I was. I think I will call them back this week, because I need to get started on my Heb B series since it takes 6 months to complete. My friend said that its best to go to the clinic because everything is super cheap, especially if you need titers. You'll want to get your drug test at the job care place in Turlock as that is the only place they accept them from. Be sure to keep a receipt so you can prove you were there. Some were lost last semester. Anyway, I think it will all be fine.

I need to get to the bookstore and see what books I need so I can order them online. Have you registered for your classes yet?

Yeah, I'm so happy. I just found out that the school will give me credit for the Intro to Nutrition & Pharmacology class because I've taken both Nutrition & Pharmacology. I'm going to take professional ethics in that spot since I'll probably be burnt out by the time the 3rd year comes along. The director said that if I take and pass the ATI pharmacology test that I won't have to take pharm the 2nd semester. I'll audit the class even if I pass, but it will really take the pressure of if I don't have to take it for a grade. I can't wait to get started, I'm really excited now.
