Hello everyone. Does anyone know when they send out the decision letters from CSU stanislaus? I got into the ohlone program but it is an associate program and since I'm planning on getting a BSN eventually I would really rather go to a CSU right away than take the long route to get there. The other two CSUs I applied to sent me waiting list letters. I'm happy to be in any program, but I noticed that ohlone doesn't have some things the CSUs have, like a pediatrics class. Any ideas?
It can be a little overwhelming at first, but you'll pick it up. I have a little advantage that I already graduated from Stan in 2004, but there is still a lot of things different about attending the nursing classes. Do you have all your prerequisites done? If so, you will be starting at the Sophomore level. I am so glad I don't have to worry about any of those peripheral classes.
My friend says its hard to even know who to talk to at the university, so it's nice to have her help. There aren't really counselors like at the JC level. We will have advisors at some point to help us through the graduation contract, but they will be our teachers and we really will depend on our teachers for most of our advising.
It doesn't matter that you haven't registered yet, unless the time of lab matters. Only the nursing students can register for nursing classes anyway. There are two labs for the health assessment class. The lecture is at 8-10 on Monday and then there is the choice of 2 labs (10:30-1:30 or 2-5 on Monday). I signed up for the late lab so I could take ethics from 12-1:30. On Tuesday we will have Nursing skills and the times are totally flexible. So if there's someone you don't like to be around you can show up at a different time!! It will take us about 6 hours to complete our skills. Wednesday morning we have Intro to nursing research 8-10:40. (sounds boring). Then you'll have intro to nursing and pharmacology. (By the way, you'll have to complete both Nutrition & Pharm to get them waived... it's very weird how they've been combined.) Download the fall class schedule and you will see all the nurse classes offered for fall. Then compare the classes offered to the Roadmap for pre-licensure BSN. That is found on the Nursing page. You register by going into my CSU stan and adding classes. I guess you can also register in person, but why when it's so convenient to register online.
You'll also have to get your student ID card because you will need that to access everything. Also, start looking for someplace to get CPR for medical providers if you don't have it already. Might as well get that done as soon as possible. Anyway, I'm sure we'll meet at Orientation. We'll have to wear little nurse caps or something. LOL.. I'm trying to wrap up some census work I'm doing up here and they keep giving me more so it'll be a relief to start school. YEAH!!
