Hello everyone. Does anyone know when they send out the decision letters from CSU stanislaus? I got into the ohlone program but it is an associate program and since I'm planning on getting a BSN eventually I would really rather go to a CSU right away than take the long route to get there. The other two CSUs I applied to sent me waiting list letters. I'm happy to be in any program, but I noticed that ohlone doesn't have some things the CSUs have, like a pediatrics class. Any ideas?
Im very excited that now im alternate 25 thanks to your acceptance to SFSU!! Congrats!! Thats amazing news to all of us... Im very nervous about not getting in since my alternate number is so high but i still have hope. I know that your class was a glitch but hopefully people heard sooner from other schools and decided to go elsewhere instead.
@courtcatt- hopefully we will both get in! Your chances are extremely better than mine so i wish you the best of luck.
My best friend got in.. It would have been amazing for us to have both gotten in but things happen.. Im very proud and happy for her nonetheless.
Anyone else got alternate? What is your alternate number? and did someone mention they are number 80 something? Wow... Its difficult to grasps how we have this huge nursing shortage and yet they keep restricting the class sizes.. tsk tsk..
okay im done babbling.. good night ladies! xoxo
@Courtcatt well i'm #28 so i know i'm definitely not gonna get in this time but i got 79 on TEAS and my GPA is 3.6 i didn't think i was even gonna make the alternate but i know 2 different languages and have lots of experience so that's probably but got me the alternate what's ur gpa and teas score??
Hi,
I'm new to all nurses and was searching for information on how to navigate the admission to the Stan nursing program. I just got accepted for Fall 10 , and am trying to figure out what's the best way to get all the immunizations. For example the Hep B takes 6 mos and must be done by the end of the first semester, so should I get my first one now, before I am even enrolled?
Also for you veterans, about what is the ballpark price to attend? It looks like there are a lot of hidden costs.
I was also wondering when the paid externs start? I have also completed nutrition, pharmacology and all the other requirements, so I am wondering if there is any way to move along the track any faster. Otherwise I will be taking only 9 units a semester.

Hi! I'm finishing my 3rd semester at Stan... I'll try to answer some of your questions.
-If you've already been accepted into the nursing program - go ahead & start your immunizations... they take a while. I believe you have to have your 2nd Hep B by the time you start clinicals - can't remember for certain though. Also, get signed up for your CPR/BLS certification - those need to be completed by clinicals also.
-Are you asking about the college tuition or the extra costs for nursing? There are always "extra" fees for nursing each semester - but they're not too bad though... But plan on spending about $100 for a parking pass, and there are extensive "extra" fees for the college... (i.e. health center, student center, gymnasium, etc....)cc
-I'm not aware of any way to move through the track any faster... there are about 9-12 units of upper division classes that are required in addition to the nursing classes - so you can take those classes to reach full-time status if that's what you're trying to do
-And as far as paid extern positions - there are very few available. Memorial Hospital just hired 20 externs out of 120 applicants, and I don't think Doctor's hospital is even doing an extern position at this time. You can apply after your first semester. I just got hired on at Memorial for their program - I'll let you know how it works out! :)
Hope that helps a little bit!
