If it's a requirement than save your money.

I called them today and they said they like to see a 300 score, but they also see the whole application... the lady said: "it's up to the admission committee to decide....I am so stressed out!

I disagree. Your GRE is just one piece of the puzzle. If you have a good gpa, great references, ccrn and other things to make you stand out, along with good interview skills, you can still be accepted. I say apply and see what they say.

hi-

If I were you I would find out the two questions below, then retake the GRE.

1) Ask them about the average stats of accepted students (GRE, GPAs) rather than just looking at the base "requirements". Many schools will tell you that requirements are 3.0 GPA and 300 GRE, but in reality the applicant pool is so competitive that unless an applicant has 3.5 GPA, 310 GRE, plus great everything else, he or she simply has little chance of getting in. Knowing how you stack up against past accepted students can help you make a more informed decision whether or not to apply.

2) If application deadline is right around the corner, ask them whether they would accept GRE if you retake and how long after the deadline you have to submit new scores. Then make a serious decision on whether to invest the time to study and retake GRE.

The best course of action is to study hard and retake the GRE if CRNA programs are competitive to get in. But if that's not a possibility at this time, it usually doesn't hurt to apply (unless the school doesn't look favorably upon re-applicants).

i am sure that many can empathize with you. if becoming a crna is your goal and in your future, it will happen. just remember that everything happens in it's due time. i believe that you can retake the gre after 60 days....reschedule the exam and retake it. it shows that you have drive and tenacity and that you are willing to due what it takes to be successful in your own personal pursuits.

OP originally said it was a requirement for school. If you don't meet a requirement than why bother? It would be no different than applying if you only have one year of critical care experience and the requirement is two years. Now that the OP has stated it is not required, but recommended than he/she should feel free to apply.

Well if you think you can do better then retake it. If that's the best you can do then just apply. Like others have said, they usually look at the whole picture and so they should realize that the GRE predicts nothing other than you can take a standardized test. Sure it's a competitive application process, but if you're comparable in other areas and have good interview skills and a personality you have a shot! I scored a 300 which is about 1080 on the old scoring system. I've been accepted for this fall and my bsn isn't even done until july. That was the only thing holding me back but I felt so confident in my ability I guess maybe they felt it too. If you feel ready, then raise your head up and do it! you won't know unless you try! good luck

oh yeah the other thing is it's only February so you've got plenty of time to retake. most deadlines aren't until the end of the year. you might as well write an article and submit to one of the dozens of nursing journals for publication. I did last year and it got published in January--just in time for my interview! what a feeling it is to whip out a journal with your article inside to give to the program director!!

Thank you everyone for you input! The deadline for this school is April 1 - so I have a very small window to prepare and retake the GRE - I have other schools in mind as well, and yes I could retake the Gre later again. I know I can do better on the GRE if I prepare better - praying for the best now!

Ca you share your stats? GPA, how much ICU experience do you have, CCRN?? thank you!
