Anyone going to PHCC (Pasco-Hernando Community College) for pre-req's or NS?

Published

I am finishing up my pre-req's and would love to see if anyone is in the same boat as I am or even in nursing school. Any advice would be much appreciated! :D

I wish anyone on here knew any of the "powers that be" so we can get a straight answer once and for all! It seems like I've gotten different information from advisors, people in my classes, this forum, etc. AAAH!!

Hi Divamommy!

All you need is a strong GPA on your pre-reqs and a high TEAS score and you are golden. PHCC is a very fair school, and anyone who thinks differently wasn't being honest about their GPA or TEAS score. I found this all out recently because some were being just plain nasty to the ones that worked hard for what they truly deserved!

I am 100% confident PHCC is a very fair school.:yeah:

True...there is a right and wrong way to do everything. I went up there and spoke to some people about not getting- and did so very politely. Because I do so, I think they were at least willing to listen and give me a plausible explanation. One counselor, in particular, I felt was a student advocate than a send-you-on-your-way type person. Also, if you're smart, you will try your best to apply to more than one program...and at multiple schools. For med school today, they recommend you apply to at least 5-8 (even though app fees will eat you up). Hope everyone gets the answers they're looking for. Look forward to seeing everyone at the orientations.

Pascostudent, I hope everything works out for you! You seem like a really good person and deserve the best! :)

No one should ever try and put down someone's hard earned accomplishments, it's just plain evil and pety!! It's a shame that certain people have to stoop to such levels sometimes. I truly feel sorry for them. Those that get all high and mighty and feel the need to defend themselves a million times over are usually guilty or should just keep their disappointment to themselves and not try and ruin someone else's well deserved achievement!

Listen, it is fairly evident that the top 24 people weren't placed into the RN program. No need to bash anyone, but what's fair is fair--and what isn't, isn't. It's futile to waste time pondering the what-if's, but straight up, I KNOW people who had flawless GPAs and excellent TEAS scores who were not admitted to the RN program.

Hmm.

There is this saying that I think pertains to all the "rumors": Believe nothing of what you hear, and only half of

what you see.

I'm half Korean, maybe that's why I got in? :jester: I'm keeeeeeedding! No hate mail lol

:p LOL MJ!!! That's gotta be why! ;)

Evansmum, I would be interested in the hearing the teas scores with 4.0's who did not get in, if you care to share :) I mean it because I felt like my teas could have been better--I still think I deserved to gain acceptance, and I feel like I will do very well in this program.

My scores are as follows:

4.0 pre req

4.0 co-req (will finish ethics with an A in the next 3 weeks)

3.7 overall college GPA

BA from USF

87.1 teas composite

97.5 teas reading, 91.1 teas math

Analyze away, my friends!! ;)

Jenn, your scores are great! But see that's the thing why are we having to prove our worthiness of why we were accepted! It isn't right.

Is this something that happened in class? I'm interested to hear

"but I got the slack and nastiness by one person. But a professor (who shall remain nameless) came up to me and called someone's bluff!"

Wow...can't really see a certain professor being so unprofessional...hmmmm

I could be way off base, but I think the attitude was from a student and the professor called someone out on it :)
