Anyone going to the next step with Sharp NEW Grad Program Sept 2009

Published

I know they said they the next step (interview) won't be till November, but I was wondering, has anyone gotten any response from them so far? Any email besides the acknowledgment after sending your application?

Also, for those who have recently gone through the process, what are your tips to GET THE JOB? .. or what were some of the questions asked during the interview?

any info will help. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

250ml,

Did you get a "nurse manager will call before November 30th" email? The nurse managers have to go thru the applications; I am still waiting. Where did you apply?

Hey.. no i didn't even get an email.. that's what sad about it.. I checked my gmail account and I didn't see any new messages from them... even a rejection one. I in another place all those who are going to the next level, which is interviews I think will be notified by nov 13th.. as far as i know that's the date. congrats again to all those who got the job...

Is everyone from SAn diego area/nearby? i meant those who got the job?....

Well....I got the email today saying that I was rejected for an interview. :crying2: I was kind of expecting it, but still hopeful I would at least get an interview. I feel like **** because I can't even get an interview.

I keep telling myself "Everything happens for a reason"...."just keep swimming"...."it is their loss".....yada yada yada, but it still hurts. :crying2:

How good on paper do you have to look. I literally have an outstanding resume (lots of certs, clinical time, volunteer time, excellent recomendations, high GPA). What do these people want. :angryfire Too bad they wont tell you either. Talking to HR is like talking to a lawyer (). They feed you a bunch a BS that never answers the question.

I had my interview yesterday and it seemed to go well. It was not at all like I expected. They asked very open-ended questions, like 'tell us about yourself' and I just talked about what I've done. Also, it ended up only with 2 people, instead of 4 like HR said, which was nice. Good luck everyone!

It sounds like you are doing everything you can. I'm sure it's just that the new grad jobs available are a fraction of the number of nurses applying for them. Keep doing what you're doing, getting experience any way you can and networking to find that right position! Good luck!

And..... I was not accepted! Wonderful!

Sorry to hear about that. You made it through (from what I have read) 1100 applications, so that was an accomplishment in itself. Are you going to apply again next time around?

The same thing happened to me. Not really sure where I am going to go from here. These rejections are getting painful.

I agree! I was told in my interview there were over 1200 applicants, so even getting through till now is a great accomplishment.

crazy Thanksgiving gift. I got offered an New Grad position in the ED at Chula Vista tonight. Now on to study for the NCLEX. Crazy crazy!

Congrats to everyone who got a position. It was really tough, I feel really blessed and lucky. I think the key was to really put yourself out there during the preceptorship. They made a comment about that during my initial interview, so it was really nice to know that someone noticed how hard I was trying to help everyone out. :)

Just keep applying everyone, we'll all get the positions we want, it may just take longer than we had hoped. Good luck everybody!! And Happy Thanksgiving!!

Wow you got offered a position in the new grad program without having your RN license. Yes, you are very blessed. Congratulations! Now just make sure that on your tag it doesn't say RN on it rather it say GN. If anybody finds out that you don't have your license and you have RN on your name tag they can report you to the CA BRN. In some cases you might be removed from the program. Make sure you dot all your I's and cross all your T's. Just FYI, that happened to someone that I know and I'm not sure what happened from there as I didn't even ask nor did I even want to know. Good luck to all!!!!

They are offering positions but saying you must have your license prior to the start of the new grad program which for most units is going to be late January or early February. I have my panel interview at CV MICU on Moday the 30th.

Congrats to you! I applied to that same position. How many got hired for that position? I did make it to the screening with the manager and never got a call. I HAVE my license and I am ACLS certified with tons of experience. Looks like all they care about is a BSN?! But congrats to you.....doesn't matter how you got in I guess as long as you did. Having precepted there really does help.

Thanks! They extended offers to 6 people, they're obviously dependent on if we pass the NCLEX or not. Did you meet with the manager? I may have seen you on my way in/out if so. I don't necessarily think its BSN or ADN that made the difference, I honestly think its having precepted there. They really get to know you that way and I have heard from the people working in the department that they really take into account how they feel about externs and other students that are assigned there.

I honestly am surprised I got even this far, I assumed everyone who was licensed already and had all their certs would get the offers. I was completely shocked when they called, I was prepared for a rejection letter and I almost did not apply to Sharp because I figured my chances were so slim with so many applicants, including ones like yourself who are far more prepared than I, to start this program. So I am feeling definitely pretty lucky, maybe I should buy a lotto ticket. :)
