  1. if they are previously working as LVNs, they are most likely in-house employees already and i think the HR prefers them over external employees. i believe their chances are bigger compared to New Grads because they already have their foot at the door, with networking and all.
  2. aishaganda, sorry for asking but i thought i'd ask. i remember you got a call from them for the sept 2009 new grad program. i was wondering how that went and what were the questions they asked? do you currently have a RN job by any chance? tough times i tried for the program earlier last year too and i've been trying to send them my portfolio for days now but it just keeps bouncing back. i asked if there was anything wrong with their email but they said it's working perfectly fine =c
  3. i would grab the opportunity as you are already fortunate enough to get one. i'm an August NCLEX passer but i still haven't gotten ANY interview. i'm currently working as RN on a small facility, but i was only a walk in applicant and got lucky because they needed one. the experience you'll get will be wonderful and it will certainly help on your future applications. i've also been signing up on NG programs and i don't think leaving my current job will be a problem since nursing homes or small facilities don't really any contracts i believe. just curious to know since when have you been looking for a job? Good luck!
  4. first of all congratulations to all those who passed!! :) i'm not new to this but i'm doing this for the sake of a good friend. she took NCLEX-RN yesterday, and i would like to know if the PVT works outside US too. if i could only browse through all of the responses and pages here, i would, but as we all know, its now 500+ pages, not like it used to :) anyway. if anyone could help. she is not aware of the PVT and i tried the trick, but i just wanted to know if this works for everyone even those in the Philippines. thanks for the help and i hope to hear from anyone ASAP. thanks!!
  5. no there isn't a waiting list. what i said was that they have already applied earlier.. so that's probably why they have a headstart on the program.
  6. i know someone who got called for an interview w/ Memorial. but are we talking about your friends getting calls from CV or grossmont?
  7. so it's true. some has already been notified for an interview. how many of your friends has been called? it's frustrating, but at the same time, i'm happy for the others who had been chosen. i've also been at awe with your qualifications, acosmo. and you're correct. although many of us have remarkable qualifications, like already passing nclex with ACLS certificates maybe even PALS, maybe they just have this system that they follow. even i, has been a deans lister when i was on my first year and i even put that in. and i hope this would be alright to say, but the above poster has applied for the earlier 09 grad program and she must've have already been on the waiting list. it is only correct that they prioritize them since they had their turn of wait in line. but i hope there's still hope to the rest of us without calls. goodluck to all of us!
  8. wow. i've been looking for these. thanks!
  9. ohmy... really?? so soon? i thought they were making calls by Nov 13th and not earlier =[ i'm happy for you though kababayan. i applied for Sharp CV too on the same units and hopefully there's still a chance for the rest of us who hasn't been called for interviews yet ='c
  10. thank you so much for taking the time to respond!!! =]
  11. dear, i must say that you are lucky enough because you are able to land a job. i'm a new grad as well, and i too, have just arrived recently from the philippines (december 08). i have no hospital experience too, at MARE, i know what you meant when you said everything else seems "foreign." i would say filipino nurses are as competent too, but we just don't have the same equipments and machines that they use here. i think you're my lifesaver. is there any way that we could talk? kasi lucky for you cos you've had that CNA experience, and i have ZERO. i have NEVER seen nurses work here. i have NEVER seen what they do. and i have a feeling that a job is near and i'm so afraid that everything will be new for me. please help me, mare. i know i sound "stupidly stupid." but i know you'll understand because you know the deal and how we do it in the philippines. where are you located now? i'm in san diego, california. if you are willing, please contact me in ANY way you wish. =] (PS. i sent you a visitor message and a private message for my email) thanks!

  13. okay, so basically i have the same story as the others. unemployed, struggling to get a job. but i have this feeling that i'm about to land one. so for the new grads out there fresh on the floor, or even experienced nurses who can remember what it's like being a newbie, can YOU help by telling us what are the responsibilities that we, as new grads, are expected to do?? such as medications, admitting, discharge, EKG. whatever. any procedure that you all can think of. i'm just afraid that i'll mess up something i'm asked to do that i'm unaware of. i won't take the risk, and i would ask before i do anything. but i just want to know what are the things that new nurses are expected to know/do. catheter.. CPT? .. blood samples, IV? i'm an international nurse and i have never seen nurses here work =[ .. i know the procedures aren't very different but i still want to know what to expect. hoping for anyone's advice. please HELP. thanks in advance!
