Anyone out there go to Wake Tech?!?!?!

Published

I'm looking for more info on getting into the actual Nursing Program. It is very hard to find someone at the school to give you answers.

If your in the program, how many points did it take for you to get in??

Does anyone know when acceptance letters go out for the Fall semester?

Any Info would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

Guess not.....What about Durham Tech?

Two of my friends in my prereqs with me at Durham Tech applied to Wake Tech for this year. One of them called the school last week and found out that the admissions folks plan to mail out decisions around the first of April.

Have you looked into Piedmont Community College? They don't have a waiting list. I know it might be a bit of a drive for you, but give them a call; their deadline is March 1st.

Do you know if they have heard anything about how many points are being averaged to get in?? I can never get any info out of the admissions counslers!! How long of a wait at Durham Tech?? I'll called the other day and they said 2 1/2 yrs for RN and 1 1/2 years for LPN. I think I'm going to get on the LPN waiting list just in case, I hope it won't take that long.

Thanks for the input

Butterfly - I will talk to them this week and see what they say.

That would be great, I feel like I am losing my mind, much like everyone else. I really want to finish school as soon as I can and not feel like I have wasted time. I checked out Peidmont and they are to far for me to drive. I'm trying to talk my boyfriend into moving but he is at NCSU right now so it is kind of tough. Have you applied into any Nursing programs yet?

Thanks

I found out a couple of weeks ago that I've been accepted to Duke's ABSN program.

If Piedmont is a hike, I suppose Vance-Granville is as well...also, Watts at Durham Regional is another possibility too. I don't know too much about the details of their program, but I've always heard they turn out stellar nurses.

Trust me when I say that anyone who has applied or is applying to nursing school would agree with you - it can cause you to go completely insane....

Butterfly - I've tracked down about five applicants to Wake Tech and unfortunately none of them seem to know anything about points for this year. One person said they asked and the question was dodged.

Sorry I'm not more help. Keep us posted though!

Thanks carolinapooh,

I've been asking around as well and same thing, no one knows anything.

I keep hearing for acceptance, points can range anywhere from 150-200. Still not sure though. Thanks for checking.

I did get some info from Durham Tech the other day so I think I'm going to get on there LPN waiting list.

Out of curiousity, how long is DT's LPN waitlist?

From what I was told last week it was a 1 1/2 for LPN and about 2 1/2 yrs for RN.

Hi Butterfly,

You're right about Wake-Tech, very hard to get anyone to answer your questions. Several years ago I wanted to get my pre-req's out of the way - but you can't do those until you go through their orientation - orientation was months away. Someone in Admin. said they were so busy, that I couldn't speak to anyone in the Nursing Dept. until I'd been through Orientation - it was ridiculous. So, lots of waiting around just to get a simple question answered. My Sister in-law graduated from there about 10 years ago, but I think the admission process was set up much better then.

2 years ago I decided to check out Wilson Tech - they were extremely helpful and although there were over 450 applicants - I was incredibly lucky to get in on my first try. The first few semesters I was able to take my Nursing Classes at the same time I was taking A&P II, Micro and a Psych. Class - not an easy thing to do, but I did it. The only drawback has been an hour long commute each way - but I'm graduating in 6 weeks and everything I've gone through to get my RN has been well worth the effort. There are a few other classmates who also come from the Raleigh area - with the new 264 Bypass, it's not that bad a drive, so you might want to give Wilson-Tech a try. Hope this helps, Susan
