So, my GPA is pretty low after being an idiot my first few years of college. I have the minimum and my grades have improved dramatically. I'm planning on raising my grade as much as possible before I apply. I have close to 2 years, so ample time. So, again did anyone have just the mins when they applied? Thanks

OP there are ways to increase your GPA avoiding the GRE is probably going to be difficult

Not meant to be hurtful. Guess I spoke before knowing your background. If your GPA is sufficiently outdated, as you present it, maybe take some fresh classes to let schools know you can be a better student now. Don't you have to take certain classes within a certain time frame for a lot of programs anyways? Regardless, sorry to write you off... I've just gotten fed up w/ reading threads of fresh college grads wanting to apply to nursing programs with very low GPAs and mediocre TEAS scores and I just don't think certain people belong in this field! We don't need people who think it's cool to be a nurse; we need academically capable individuals who can provide quality patient support.
My bad..
Thanks everyone! I'm considering all options at this point. Biggest concern is managing family, work and finances. I have 5 kids so family definitely comes first. i still need to work parttime while in school. I LOVE being a nurse and think I would love being a NP as well. One school requires a physical assessment course which would be an easy A but $1900!
I'm currently in a similar position.....I just hit my 8th year as an RN. my core (first 3 semesters) classes were rough and i didn't do well (who needs british literature?! but anyway...) my OVERALL GPA is a 2.89. My NURSING GPA is 3.1something. I am currently gathering info and starting my essay for NP school. I'm scared to death that this will bite me in the butt when it comes to getting selected. Most advisors have told me that my history and experience is enough to let my 8 yrs of experience not be a MAJOR factor and I may simply be put on academic probation for 2 semesters. I have background in med/surg, hem/onc, ICU, trauma, management/leadership experience, cath lab etc etc...so I am holding tightly that this may push me through.
Depends on your definition of low GPA. Some schools take cumulative, some last 60 hrs, some your BSN. I applied to many schools all with different requirements. My aas GPA was 2.6 my BSN 3.8 my cumulative 3.1 and last 60 hours 3.4 (I also got my paramedic at a junkie college in between). I was accepted to a last 60hr GPA school.

I would change your study habits and maybe start working with others when you study. It's not impossible to raise ur GPA !
