Anyone have experience with Virginia Mason in Seattle?

Published

Hello,

I have been offered a position with Virginia Mason in Seattle for their New grad RN residency. Has anyone been through their training program as a new grad nurse and can shed some light on how it is?

Thanks!

Hello, I am wondering the same thing too. In particular, how Swedish and Harborview compare to it. All I know is that the pay is slightly better at VM than the others, and that the parking is quite expensive, unless you work after 3:45pm.

I am still wondering the same thing, as I am now in a position to choose between Swedish and VM. Any advice anyone?

I have my interview for the or on Monday! What were some of the things the panel asked you? I have been rehearsing some behavioral questions, but I'm wondering if there's anything that really got you in. Thank you!

Hey, i was wondering how did your interview go? and how many people are they hiring. Unfortunately i was not selected but was advised to apply for next OR residency. Can you shed some light on the interview so i can get the interview next time around.

The interview was with the surgical tech supervisor, developmental specialist, and two nurse managers. I applied super early in the process, so I wonder if that helped me get in. They asked a couple behavioral questions and then some general questions. I feel like you never really know how the interview went, but I'm hoping to hear something soon either way.

i see! Thank you so much for replying. How did you prep for the panel interview ? what type of general questions like tell me about yourself? why should we hire you? were you nervous? finger crossed that you will get the position!!! =)

thank you again! let me know if you get the offer! i'll apply again when they have another one and hopefully we can be co-worker!

General questions were "Why Virginia Mason, why this position, what do you know about the role of an operating room nurse"? Behavioral questions included "Tell me about a time you didn't know what to do, tell me about a time someone gave you surprising feedback, tell me about a time that you ran out of time, tell me about a time you had a conflict with a coworker, tell me about a time when you failed..." I am not holding my breath for it, honestly, but it was very low pressure.

Hey jumping on this thread super late to ask how your experience in VM's residency program was? Trying to decide between their program and Swedish's.
