Ok here goes.

So I got hired at a LTC facility. I did all the paperwork and the class orientation. During orientation, a bunch of people were talking about receiving a "Welcom Aboard" email which consists of I-9, benefits, direcr deposit, etc and how it was confusing for them to do. I was confused because I didn't know what they were talking about. Mind you this email was supposed to be done before orientation. So I spoke to the HR and she was like shocked that I didn't get it. Anyways, she sent it to me and that night I did them. I went to Day 2 class orientation and the HR said I have to do it again as the Welcome Aboard email it states May 15, 2017 instead of 2018. She told me to meet her after class and so I did. I went to her office and then she told me that she spoke to the DON about the email but she couldn't get it from her because she wasn't there or something like that. She told me that she will talk to the DON and that she and I will do the forms tomorrow. Day 3 cane. We were supposed to get our schedule that day and I was not able to while the other orientees received theirs. HR saw me in the hallways right outside of the Scheduler's office and she told me that she still couldn't get the right email from the DON and that she will call me on Monday. She asked the Scheduler if I was on the system and she said no. She said I have to re-do the I-9 again the correct form from a current welcome aboard email as that's needed for pay roll. Now it's Monday and I still haven't heard anything from them. Funny thing, after Day 3 of orientation, I received an email dated May 14th (During orientation day) and it says thank you for you consideration but we chose a different candidate. I was like whattt?? Haha I knew this was wrong because I went to orientation days. It's super weird.

I feel that they were very disorganized. I was thinking that maybe it's because they told us during orientation that the place was just bought by a different company. I was also thinning that maybe they do not want to hire me at all which is really stupid because I have no time to play games. If they don't want to hire me just say so. I have other jobs that I can apply for. What would you do if you were in my position?

Do you have an official offer letter from the company? Was the job offer in writing? Was your acceptance in writing? It may be that you got lost in the shuffle, but it may also be that the company changed their mind about hiring you. I hope it's the former.

I would make absolutely sure I had still been hired.

My first nursing job was a similarly disorganized nursing home. They sent me home 45 minutes into my first shift because they "couldn't afford 2 orientees", and told me to call back in a week. When I called back a few days later to check in, they said the position had been cancelled.

I actually got a call after posting this. The HR told me I'm in their system already and that she will send me the Welcome Aboard email soon. She did go over my background check. I asked her about my schedule and she told me that the Scheduler will call me as well. I'm still not sure.

Yes the job was offered to me via email. I accepted it via their website and I filled out some papers.

Well another day without a call from the Scheduler and no Welcome Aboard email even though the HR told me yesterday that she will send it to me. She did tell me about the pay and everything. I signed all the paperwork except this part. The HR told me I am already in their system and I am OK so far. Do you think it is too much to give them a week? should I just start looking for another job again?

I would start looking elsewhere. I wouldn't want to work for a place that was so bloody disorganized.

Meh, same thing happened to me when I worked for Home Depot. I went to a facility as instructed after the interview and then at the half way through had to talk to the HR lady and ask her if I was hired because I was never told so or negotiated pay...only told to show up at the facility. Took a week and a half for all of my paperwork to catch up to me.

I would make absolutely sure I had still been hired.

Whoa! That's bad!!

Update:

I still haven't heard anything from the HR or the Scheduler. I'm gonna try and call tomorrow and see what's going on because I'm so ready to apply elsewhere.

Can you call or go talk in person with the Director of HR and with your supposed supervisor? Be nice, just say you

are confused, you are ok with them changing their minds about hiring you, if indeed they have, you just need to know for sure.

If they tell you you are hired, don't leave without getting that in writing and without getting all of the I-9, W4, and Scheduling

issues, and so on in writing (get copies of everything you sign). Not that any of it can force them to actually hire you, just

that it is ridiculous to do you this way.

It wouldn't hurt to start looking elsewhere, actually, now that I think about it. Good luck. No I have never had anything like

this happen.

I am planning on calling them tomorrow. I actually called today but the HR wasn't there.
