Anyone ever job hunt hunt while pregnant?

Published

hello,

I am really unhappy in my long term care position. I am four months pregnant and doubt that I will be able to find a new job. Has anyone else tried to find a new job while pregnant?

Specializes in LTC, assisted living, med-surg, psych.

You should come to my hospital.........they hire 'em even if they're dilated to 5cm and they have to walk upstairs to deliver after their first day of orientation!! :chuckle

Seriously, it seems like half the nurses and aides on staff where I work are either pregnant or new moms.........must be something in the water........I'm glad I drink only the Crystal Light I bring from home..... :uhoh21:

Too funny. Maybe if I go for a per diem position I may have better luck. That way I won't be committing to anything to permanent.

The PRN option might be your best choice!

I job hunted when i was 5 mths pregnant and showing a little. No you don't have to disclose, its not like you are terminally ill or something. You can still lift, etc...but like ANY good nurse you'd ask for assistance lifting. So go interview, see what happens. I wouldn't tell til after i started working, but that's me. Worked for me just fine too. Got hired easily.

Maybe you could do temp work until you are ready, then after the baby do a regular job hunt.

hello,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I start a new job at a small Long Term Care facility tomorrow. I was up front with the DON and she was great. The staffing is excellent too...26 patients...two nurseson the day shift!! It is a about a 40 minute drive, but it seems nice otherwise!
