Anyone enrolled in EC BSN program? I start May 7th!

Published

Just curious if anyone else was doing EC's BSN or currently in the program/finished the program? I am starting with Statistics for healthcare professionals MAT215, Ethics in Healthcare, and Eng201 expository writing =) 2 of them are 15 wks courses and one is an 8wk course so this should prove to be exciting! LOL I just want to get my BSN done within a yr if possible so i can move on to MSN-FNP program through Georgetown or Frontier =)

Specializes in Med/Surg.

EC does not require filming anymore. At least, it was not required for Teaching class. I think they removed it from Health Assessment class as well (You can always call them and ask). Classes are challenging. BSN program is much harder than ASN (well, it should be, right? :D). It took me 4.5 month to finish their ASN program. It will take me 2.5 years to be done with BSN. But I have an excuse :D - writing is not one of my favorites. It takes a lot for me to write something that worth reading.

The good thing is - I have one class left. I'm planning to take Capstone in September (I'm in a process of moving to MN now :)).

Good luck to you!

Hi just curious my name is Tiffany i have read alot of your post and somehow find you to be a motivator my question is how you did it.I just started the program 2 months ago to date i have taken life span and sociology working on A and P now but any pointers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, no CPNE for the BSN. That is a one-time ordeal! :D

REALLY??? That would be awesome! It's been the only thing holding me back. No way did I want to endure that again, lol.

How do they grade your clinical competence then? You must have to get public health?

I have no idea what the BSN portion is comprised of.

When did you take the teaching class? -I did NUR 446 Teaching and Learning in a Diverse Society last Spring (2011) and they still required a film of our class we taught.

I'm starting NUR 442 Health Assessment and Promotion in Nursing Practice and will be happy if there is no filming required.

I'm taking NUR*430 Research in Nursing in the Fall and then I'll take the NUR*462: Nursing Capstone Course in the January term and I'm done.

I checked with EC today; they no longer require a film for NUR 422 which is good because I start Monday!

yea to the no filming! =) I'm starting with the three prereqs monday. Wont be in the nursing portion until next term. I will be taking 2-3 classes each term, don't really have a choice in the matter either! LOL

@Tiffany- I don't really know how to explain "how you do it?" LOL...pretty much don't have a lot of free time is all. I do have three kids and hubby is in the army and i work full time...I was off work for a 6mo period that allowed me to take an exam every 2-3 wks, so I got through the majority of the nursing exams then. I only have a few gen eds I needed so that helped too. My husband is very supportive and if i need to write papers or be online for school he will deal with the kids...my house pretty disorganized and when I can at work log in or read i do (between pts as well as on lunch break and my 15min breaks) I also love to read to it is really easy for me to grasp content. For the ASN part I used a third party video program (i'm audio/visual by nature) and that's what helped me to get through the program so fast. That being said, i did graduated with a 3.0 but had I taken a little more time to learn the material better I would have had a higher GPA. I didnt think about continuing my education until the very end and then it was too late to get my GPA any higher due to the 4 C's I received. I just wanted to pass. I also used a third party workshop to prepare for the CPNE in 7wks. My conferral date is May 18th and i'm soooo excited! I had a lot of self doubt at first, but each exam passed boistered my confidence considerably!

I'm looking forward to the hard work and dedication to the BSN portion! I am excited to continue on with EC and my education. I guess if you want it bad enough you figure a way through. Money was not a deterant for me as my husband gave me his GI bill so school was paid for at 100%, I onlly had to pay for my books and misc fees. I know alot of people have to pay out of pocket for everything and that can make it take longer to finish. Just don't give up! I failed LS3 twice and i threw in the towel for almost 8mo because of it...what a waste of time! Now i'm hitting the road and giving it my all no matter what! Good luck to all of you in your endeavors!

I'm so proud of you, Tasha. :) I knew you were so frustrated by LS3, but you didn't give up! You've earned this.

out of curiosity, are there any clinical's, hands on nursing involved. I noticed 1 posters stated she completed her AS degree in like 7 months?

Thinking about Excelsior for my BSN. Are there any clinical's involved or test at Pearson Vue? Or just classes to take with Excelsior. Just passed CPNE last week & already feels weird to not have anything to study sooooo checking out where to go for my BSN. Why quit studying now - :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:
