Anyone else waiting to hear from San Diego State University?

Published

So April 15th has come and gone. Now we sit and wait. I know that letters won't start coming out until June, right?

I will admit that I'm nervous - I worry about my GPA not being good enough because of the utter failure I was when I first attended college 17 years ago. I've pulled a 3.91 GPA at the college I attend now, and have a 2.92 cumulative between the two colleges (like I said, failure.)

I scored a 92% on the TEAS and am doing well in the pre-reqs, except for Psychology. I won't receive points for that one since I had a C- way back when. I am retaking that this summer in order to raise my GPA.

Any other thoughts? How are you feeling? What is your history?

Good luck and blessings to all :) It's a pleasure to be a member of this forum.

Does anyone know what the exact cutoff was for Fall 09?

studentmom04, the exact cut off was 72 points for Fall 09

Does anybody know that when we supposed to start working on background check, and all the health requirements?

Good question! I'm wondering if we're supposed to get a written notification too? I got the call July 2, but haven't received anything in the mail at all. I did get the info from the website about orientation, but all the health requirements and everything else, I am also in the dark about.

I haven't gotten a letter in the mail either maybe they don't send them out at all..Yeah, they updated the orientation stuff, but not anything on compliance.

I remember when I received the call that we supposed to start on getting CPR card immediately but I don't recall she said anything about background check..I will just wait another week to call them back. If you hear anything, please let me know and I will do the same thing as well! Thanks!

I just spoke to the Admissions Coordinator. I went into her office and she told me that it's too soon right now to start on the background checks. Because there IS an expiry date eventually, she said that she prefers to keep a certain window of timeframe to renew it later. We will get more info about the background checks at nursing school orientation, but we should not get started on that until after the orientation (which is late Aug).

Thank you for the info. Not until after the orientation? That surprises me because I thought we would be getting that sooner than that. Anyway, thanks for sharing!! I really appreciate it.

Also, did she say anything about getting our physical exam done? or immunization record?

I guess now, I just have sit and wait till the orientation..I feel like I should be doing something productive preparing for the school to start.

She did say that right before orientation is okay, too, but she gave me the impression that she didn't want us to "jump the gun" just yet. Though I feel uneasy, if this is what she's saying, then there must be no rush.

And no, she didn't mention the physical exam and I forgot to ask. But I did ask about the immunization record. I'm a transfer student, and in this case she said NOT to send them to Health Services yet because you are not actually considered a student until your FIRST day of class. So if you send it ahead of time, they will lose it.

It's so insane because I'm the type that likes to get things done ASAP. Waiting til that late makes me feel even more anxious than I already am. But one thing I've noticed about SDSU (I've been to another CSU, and two community colleges) is that they like to do things later.

I sent in a petition to do a repeat of a course I already passed so that I can aim for an A in it. But SWC denied it. They said that I can't take it over unless it's relapsed for 5 yrs or more. Well than how is anyone here suppose to improve their points? I can take the teas over to improve points. But is that all I can do? since every class for pre-req hasn't been 5 yrs yet? I'm stuck in a rut guys....I want to improve my score, but I can't...help...what should I do.

I usually know what to do for everything....I'm lost now. =(

I'll try to study for my teas to aim for better score. I can try petitioning at SDSU and take a pre-req there and hope they don't deny me. But as of now...what??

any suggestions? tell me what would YOU do?

Do you have any work experience? I understand that SDSU gives more points for students who work in a related healthcare field than students who have volunteer hours.

i have a question for those who didn't get in this fall??? how many of you guys are going still going to take classes at state this fall? you know... the upper division grad requirements?

i just want to know :)
