Is there anyone else out there who is currently studying for the CCRN exam and would like to start a thread as perhaps a study and support group? I have just applied for the exam and have not yet set a date, but about in 3 months is when I will be taking it. I would love to be in communication with others in the same boat! I hope there is at least one other nurse out there! Thanks!

Thanks all my fellow CCRNers for the well wishes!! I am here at work and have told one person!!! It feels pretty good. I left a note for my manager, and a form for my reimbursement and yearly bonus!!
As far as the materials we have for review, I do believe that the Gasparis material will help you pass. And I also concur that the Dennison material is too detailed for most areas. I just think it is another one of those crappy nursing tests where you really don't know how well you really did. It is designed so that you can't feel that you have really "mastered" the material. Do you know what I am trying to say? There are a lot of easy questions...straight from Gasparis and Dennison (or the other way around) and I do think that with those materials, it is hard to fail...but if your goal is to really "nail" it, I don't think it is designed for that...so, I am trying to let go of some lingering frustration, especially about Pulmonary... well I am up for an admit, so off I go!! More later....
Anyway, I don't know what else to tell you about the exam, I am letting go of my frustration. I just doesn't seem fair. You would think that nurses would want to empower each other.... why would nurses design tests like this? How about NCLEX?? That was even more unbelievable! If they really wanted to test new questions, wouldn't it be just as valid to tell us which ones they were?
I think all of you who have spent some time with Dr Laura's material and have done the review questions of Dennison could go take the CCRN tomorrow and pass it. You will be prepared well enough for that and in the end, that is all that really matters!!!
By the way, I got lost on my way to the AMP site in Coon Rapids, I was about 17 minutes late and since I had called for directions, the lady let me take it!!! phew!!!! (It was an H and R Block Office)

Thats what I've been almost exclusively doing --- I just ordered the dennison stuff

Dawn, I'm thinking the Coon Rapids site is where I will be testing, can you take it any day of the week? I'm hoping so, cuz I still haven't scheduled it but I want to take it beginning of Sept.Don't stress about the test anymore!! It's over and done with and you passed! Hooray!!
You may want to schedule it pretty soon, as dates do fill up. Only 3 people can test at the same time. Also, Coon Rapids is the ONLY place in Minnesota where the test is offered.
Thanks for the advice. My manager was very happy for me. She got me a little pin that said CCRN. Also, we can still put it on our name tags and there is a plaque where names are inscribed on the unit.
Hi, I need your feedback on adding a poll on our thread.
Siri, one of the moderators suggested that we add it, this was her suggestion: any additions or suggestions would be highly appreciated:
Poll Question: Are You CCRN certified, or do you plan to become certified?
Poll Options
Option 1: Yes
Option 2: No
Option 3: Undecided
Option 4: If, yes, I receive CCRN certification bonus/pay
Option 5: If, yes, I do not receive CCRN certification bonus/pay
Option 6: I am currently studying for the CCRN
Option 7: If no, I do not desire the CCRN
Option 8: If no, I do not see the need for any added certifications
This was just off the top of her head, and I haven't had time to think about it much. Any other responses that might be interesting? This might stir up some discussion about CCRN.
I will have a year of critical care experience by November and would like to take the exam by the beginning of next year. I bought Pass CCRN and Critical Care Examination Review so far. I think I will buy the Gasparis DVDs eventually since everyone finds them beneficial. My hospital just started reimbursing nurses $350 for registration/study materials for certifications.
Congrats to Hoozdo and Dee! :balloons:

That is sooooo awesome!!!!!!!!!!
One question about the test, how do you feel it compared to the gasparis book or the dennison CD?? Don't have to go into details, just what did you think?
Congratulations again, and who cares what the response is at work, whether it's good or bad! This is for you and you are awesome
