Anyone else feel like throwing up. It is part of this big push to get people to go into healthcare jobs. Gov. Rendell I got news for you, the call bell is not getting answered because managment will not spend the money to put enough people on the unit to answer the damn bell. In addition, most new hires quit very quickly when they realized they are being worked to death. Geeze, I can't believe the politicians are falling for that "we can't find staff" line of BS. The real problem is they can't find people that will accept being treated like mushrooms, KEPT IN THE DARK and FED SHYTE.

Shroooooooooooms, man !
You are too funny!
"Take your medicine like a nice patient, Dear...."
Doggone it !!! Wish they'd fix the upload and IMG things !!!
It was soooo perfect !!! Arrgh.
Hey, maybe we ought to start a new trend to get our message across... instead of nursing caps, we'll all start wearing mushroom caps ! And when the public starts asking questions (heh... like IMMEDIATELY !) we can just give them your line above !!! :chuckle
You are so funny, you should be resting. You are going to have a relaspe. However, the mushroom hat thing is really original.

I took a nap earlier this afternoon, Miss Nursey ~
May I stay up just another hour? :kiss

Must try this one more time... just too good not to get on here!

Well, it didn't do the automatic showing up thing, but at least you can click on it and see it !

I saw it, oramar. I can't say it any better than you did, and whenever I see that commercial, this is what I look like:

I LOVE THE HAT IDEA!!!!!
The ad is degrading at best. What would make me feel better is if he was empying a bed pan, answering several call bells, handing meds, changing dressings, charting EVERYTHING, and then had that same stupid smile on his face.
Come to think of it, how about a "trading places" for Mr. Rendell?? Give him the nurses salary and the lousy working conditions for say a WEEK??
I wonder if he would jump at the chance?

" The good doctor has ordered a nice elixir for you, Dear..."
So... isn't this how we're portrayed? Did you check out the nice victorian handmaiden dress? Add the mushroom 'cap' to dunce us down, and voila ! That's right ! Keep 'em in the dark and feed 'em crap.
Don't EVEN laugh, guys, 'cuz you ain't gettin' off so easy... might as well just wipe that grin off your faces right now. I have the perfect "earth-tone" scrub and matching cap for you male nurses that will do quite nicely. Nothing like supporting the cause... we're all in this together !

Sooooooooooo....
...have any of you PA. nurses written the Governor's office about his "commercial" ? I would think this to be the opportunity of a lifetime to round up a few nurses and meet with him.
His commercial is a real "door opener" to some possible "eye openers" for the man. You now have the golden opportunity to point out just why his commercial is so unreallistic, and perhaps even have some meaningful dialogue.
You might even consider asking him to put those scrubs back on for just one day and follow you nurses around for a full 12 hour shift.. continuously at your heels... no breaks unless you do, no meals unless you do, and he might just gain a little better understanding of why he made that commercial to begin with... and see it from a different perspective.
I don't know, but it seems to me a lucrative opportunity which should not be wasted... should be jumped on NOW... he opened the door, so walk right in and take advantage of the moment ! You may not get another ! :)
I know you're right, jnette.
I did a search and here's an email address where we can write him our views:

I'm heading off to write my email now, and hope others will join me. Thanks for the nudge!
