I start nursing school in August. I am going crazy sitting around waiting for school to start. I didn't take any summer classes and now I wish I did. I don't have a job and find myself wondering around the house all day or sitting at the computer reading allnurses. Anyone else going nuts waiting for August?
Ever since I found out I got in I have been going insane. Ready for school to start; not ready for school to start. I feel like once I get to orientation I will feel better, maybe!
I haven't purchased any of my 14 books yet! I can't believe there are so many books!
I am going to my cpr class monday and then physical and shots after that!
It just doesnt' seem real yet!
Good luck everyone and enjoy the rest of your summer!
We had to turn in all of our paperwork by July 12 (Proof of medical insurance, CPR cert, shot records, physical form, and backgroud check). I turned everything in except my last Hep B shot, and I got that today, and then turned in the updated shot record.
I bought my Littman steth, bandage scissors, BP, and 3 pen lights this week. And they gave us the info on where to purchase our embroidered scrubs which I will do in the next week or so.
I was told we would order all of our books once the program started. We actually order all the books for the entire program at one time. I am able to buy dosage calc which is a support course which I will do in the next couple weeks. We have our drug testing on Aug 13.
My pell grant has come through, and I signed up for a loan session today. Its all coming together. Its hard to believe that in about a month I will actually start nursing school.
I also start Aug. 25th and I am so excited! I do have a part-time job that takes up some of my time and I am trying to enjoy my last summer off but I it's killing me. I saw some say to review A&P and get a fluids and electralytes book. Anything else we can do? I also have a question that I'm sure my advisor will answer at registration but I was hoping to get other opinions. I have finished all my required classes for LPN school except my actual nursing classes. This leaves me with only 8 hrs in my first semester. This normally would be great but I have to have at least 12hr to keep my grant. So my question is what class should I take to make up the difference? I was thinking about taking A&P I again since it's been 1 1/2 yr and I only made a C or should I take an easy class to give me more time to study?
i can understand your excitement because you're just beginning nursing school. you don't know what to expect, you've been waiting for a while, etc. i know because this time last year i was the same way.
[color=#00bfff]take the advice of the previous posters. get your affairs in order and relax. once august/september rolls around, you'll have to hit the ground running.
[color=#00bfff]personally, i'm beginning my third semester and this last weekend i've realized that i'm just about ready to go back. we resume classes on 8/18 and i've been out of class since the beginning of may.
[color=#00bfff]so in the next week or so i'll get my stuff together (Liability Insurance, tb, books), have one last hurrah, and settle in to finish up this next year.
[color=#00bfff]good luck to everyone!
[color=#00bfff]may '09 grad!!!!
I have read the replys about getting stuff together and relaxing so I have cleaned my house like never befor and just relaxed (more than normal) and when my fiance asks if I am ever going to get up and move I say " when school starts". I do still work out and clean and cook and do my normal activitys but I take every oppertunity to be lazy that I reasonably can. Thanks for all the advice!
Not gonna lie...I am. I'm starting my last semester on August 25th and I really can't wait. I mean, its less than a month away and I'll be in my final semester of nursing school. And then, I'm a nurse. Seriously, can any of you believe it? Well, I can. When I was in your shoes I couldn't, but it has gone by soooo fast, literally two years of torture. But I can't wait to be done!
