Anyone else anticipating January submission for Air Force COT 2012?!

Published

Hey,

I am applying for and will *hopefully* be accepted into the Air Force health professions as an officer! :yeah: I am so excited and am reaching out to see if there is anyone else out there in my shoes? I had my MEPS last week, getting all of my paper work together; most likely to be completed by the end of November. Is there anyone else applying for COT training next year? Please message me!

Or is there anybody who had gone through the COT and what to expect? I know that every body had new and different experiences but I am interested on how to prepare: what to study, how to work out!, etc.

Hope to hear back from some body! :coollook: This message board is usually what I would 'google' when searching for some information on Air Force COT for nurses.

Thank you!

Oh...yeah I never did get a date, I'm just trying to make sure on my own that everything is in way before Christmas. So I called and left a message with her backup person that called me last week. So hopefully he will return my call soon. Oh I'm like you. I have been stalking everyone and I am pretty sure they are getting tired of me, lol. I feel bad though because it's not that my recruiter is not being helpful (she's having some medical issues) but it seems like when she comes back into the office we have to change so many things or add paperwork. Then you're not able to really ask her questions since she's not in the office.

Hi All,

I am looking to put my paperwork in for January but I feel like nothing is done. I have not been to MEPS yet. I am starting to freak out but my recruiter is pretty laid back and is saying we have plenty of time. So hopefully I will hear when I can go to MEPS soon. Good luck to all of you and I hope the process is made as painless as possible for all involved!

Hi BritBr...

I understand how you are feeling. I still have not been to MEPS or had an interview with the CNO. My recruiter just sent my additional information over to them so hopefully I will get an appt date soon. I'm trying not be be frustrated with the whole process since my recruiter is having medical issues. Have you turned in everything on your part? If so, I would say just stay on top of things and keep in frequent contact with your recruiter. Keep us updated on your progress...:)

Hi ALTRN0828

Glad to see I'm not alone, I have everything done except the evaluations. I am still waiting for my coworkers to get those done. I wouldn't normally be frustrated but I get the feeling I might need a waiver and I know that takes time too and I don't want that to hold me up for the January selection. As long as I don't need any medical waivers, I'm good to go. I'll keep you guys updated as much as I can. It's good to have a place to discuss and vent frustrations.

Nope, you are not alone ;). I actually have a few things left to do. I had my questionnaire and CV done and turned in then my recruiter said that the board changed one of the questions and wanted a more detailed CV from everyone. So now I'm in the process of revising that. I'm still waiting on some evals to come in too. I've emailed her to verify if she's received any new ones and I haven't heard back from her. It is frustrating but the military motto seems to be "hurry up and wait". I'm just ready to be done with this all...then the real waiting game begins. What might you need a waiver for? Did your recruiter say how long it might take?

Update: just as I'm typing I'm getting emails from the recruiter that she has gotten some of my dependents info that I emailed her approx. 2 weeks ago. Maybe we will finally be getting somewhere...again :yeah:.

Woohoo!! I'm glad it is starting to roll a little bit more for you!!

Brit... I hope that it all goes through for you too? What field of nursing are you applying to go to? I put in for critical care. You still have to do meps And cno? I still have cno to go through... want all the rare work in ASAP though! I think it's mostly coming through. When did you start your application process??

Another small update...she has gotten some more evals in the mail :coollook:. Well I emailed her back and asked if she could tell tell me how many or from who (so I can rush the others on turning them in) but no word yet. Baby-steps I guess :lol2:...

It seems as though recruiters go through the same training: get the applying person all ampted up with a million questions... and then leave office for 2 weeks. haha! We will get THERE! :) :)

This could take longer than I thought. I read on this site of someone applying like us ( same time frame last year) but didnt get in until spring time. I wonder what the AF numbers where compared to this years numbers?

Good luck JJTRN!! I hope that you get to hear back before the holiday, and that come spring you are an officer. Where do we find out about numbers?? - Who knows that information?

I heard from my recruiter that the AF was accepting 70 nurses. The number that read for 2009 was 185 nurses. Due to cutbacks, the list is short this year!

WOW! What a decrease!! How many do they accept with each board meeting? I didn't realize how nerve-wrecking this process was going to be. Are you going in for ED?
