Anyone else anticipating January submission for Air Force COT 2012?!

Hey,

I am applying for and will *hopefully* be accepted into the Air Force health professions as an officer! :yeah: I am so excited and am reaching out to see if there is anyone else out there in my shoes? I had my MEPS last week, getting all of my paper work together; most likely to be completed by the end of November. Is there anyone else applying for COT training next year? Please message me!

Or is there anybody who had gone through the COT and what to expect? I know that every body had new and different experiences but I am interested on how to prepare: what to study, how to work out!, etc.

Hope to hear back from some body! :coollook: This message board is usually what I would 'google' when searching for some information on Air Force COT for nurses.

Thank you!

:redbeathe

I've also heard the results will be released this week. Hoping the next 4 days fly by:)

Is this for the non-qualified boards may I ask?

I guess the fully qualified. I will not be going into the new nurse transition program.

my understanding is that fully qualified/credentialed/licensed professionals are going thru these boards and will be commissioned prior to COT.

hope this helps

Hey JJTRN,

Thanks for the info on the loan from USAA and the bonuses as well. When exactly did you get the option to fill that paperwork in? Was it at the same time you did the other paperwork? We are submitting our paperwork for the January 2012 boards. I hope that you get the news of your acceptance soon :yeah:. BTW...congrats on finishing the entire process. I feel like this part (the paperwork) is never going to end.

This is an old link. but the info is first hand and still helpful about going to COT.

And really, COT is nothing in the full scheme of things.

And no. The paperwork never will end. Once you're in, you'll fill out more - and many repetitively.

Hey JJTRN..! How was the CNO meeting?? What is there to expect? Typical nurse interview questions, mostly?

I am hoping for good news in February!!!! I hope that you make it in! This is so stressful, and I feel the more I talk about it the slower time is going.. haha!

** I asked this on the other board for AF FY2012 or something, and are the COT schedules the same no matter when you are picked to come into the AF?? I don't want to wait til FY13 to go to COT!!! Yiiiiiiikes!!!!!

I really hope that everyone for October boards hears back soon! I am excited to hear the responses from everyone.

Do you like the AF as an officer? I read through your past thread from COT, and you recommend to get the uniform and boots prior to COT? I feel as though I have so many questions and have some homework to do. I already requested a few books from the library and want to get the AF Officer Manual! Will help out a lot... :) Thank you for posting to our thread..

Any last words/suggestions to help ease the COT transition?? What ARE you allowed to wear at/bring to COT... I read printer paper and random office supplies. Coffee maker? && is it OK and better to drive and have a car there, or is flying OK? I haven't even been selected yet...!! I just need to know! haha :uhoh3:

Hey mkb0521,

The paperwork never ends and when you think it does, the paper work that you already did has " expired" and they want you to do it again.

The CNO interview went great. I had Col Mack out at Keesler. She seemed like an approachable commander/manager. She has a pleasant attitide and cares for her profession. Very apparent.

As for the butterflies....they never went away. I prepared for the interview by coming to this board. Great people on this site willing to help. I was told to know the core values of the AF, know the AF mission statement, know why I wanted to be in the AF, what my family thought of me wanting to go into the AF, what moral and what ethical positions have I been exposed to in regards to nursing, why I became a nurse....and so on.

She informed me of the necessity of carrying a gun in war zones. she asked me how i would feel caring for injured GI's.

After all her questions were complete, she asked if I had any questions.

It lasted maybe 40 minutes.

Hey mkb0521!

Is the CNO interview all that you have left to do? Also, is February when we should hear something if we are turning our paperwork will be submitted and reviewed in January? You are right, this process is stressful but I think the time is going by really fast. Before you know it January will be here. I was wondering the same thing about the COT dates. I know the classes are only a few months out of the year and I think the last date for this year is in August.

Oh, I think I read in a previous post that it is better to drive your car there if possible because if you get off base priviledges then you have a way to get around. However, I'm sure that if you don't have a car there you could always hope in with someone in your class too. But you a lot of people do fly there and I think that they set up your flight arrangements for you, if you do fly.

Yes, we should hear something in February. The CNO is all I have left... just waiting to make sure that my recruiter has all of the paper work he needs, which should be the end of the month. CNO and MEPS are what you have left to do??

I was researching last night and I found the Air Force Officer's Guide to buy.. it looks really awesome, and it is cheap through Amazon, in case you are interested in that stuff!!! :)

I hope that we are able to choose our COT for 2012 WHEN we are accepted in February! Would be relief....

You're so lucky! I have to do MEPS and CNO, which they just sent me a form last week to sign for MEPS. So hopefully that means that I will be scheduled for that soon. Man, talking to you makes me feel so behind....she also me that they changed one or two of the questions on the questionnaire and want a more detailed CV. So I'm working on that while trying to study for OCN :crying2:. I'm so ready to just have all of this done already! It's been pretty difficult to get ahold of her because she's been out for a few weeks and is out of office again. So we will see what she says when she comes back .

I will look into that book as well...any resource is always helpful.

Did your recruiter give you an exact date of when to have all of your stuff turned in by?

He said by Christmas. I am not sure if that was including the interview and stuff, but I want all stuff on my end done by end of the month! And PLEASE do not feel behind! It just happens that the MEPS place is 20 mins from my house and I was able to get it over with. However, they needed more paper work than I expected (DUH OF COURSE! :lol2:!) and I am waiting to hear if it all clears. I am stalking the crap out of my recruiter and everyone who I gave my evals to just to make sure everything is filling in. Is there another recruiter at your site to work with you, too? Not fair to get behind because she isn't helpful right now!
