Has anyone appied and been accepted into the RN program at DBCC? If so what was your GPA? How were your NET scores?
So DSC doesn't require nutrition or human growth/development as pre-reqs or part of the program? Just wondering because I most of the colleges in Jacksonville require them but if I can apply at DSC without them, I might consider it.
The more schools I research, the more differences I see. ARGH!

I know your frustration, it's amazing how different prereqs can be from school to school!
I am not going to be attending DSC for my nursing program (chose to go elsewhere for an Accelerated BSN instead, I am however doing my prereqs there) ... but I did research that program originally and am familiar with the program requirements. You're right, there is no nutrition course required and neither is a human growth/dev course. Here's a list of what they require (I'm combining prereqs and coreqs in this list because I've heard you're better off completing ALL of them before you apply, it places you in a higher priority ahead of applicants that still have to complete even one them):
- College Composition (typical 1st freshman writing course)
- Literature & Composition (typical 2nd freshman writing course)
- College Algebra
- General Psychology
- Oral Communication/Research Presentation Skills (or other speech course)
- Humanities, Cultural & Aesthetics Core (art or theatre appeciation OR most literature or world history courses)
- Human Anatomy I & Lab
- Human Anatomy II & Lab
- Microbiology & Lab
Ironically, DSC DOES offer a nutrition course, and I hear it's worth taking ... probably best to take it after you've enrolled in the nursing program since assuming you have completed all the courses above you will have time later to squeeze it into your schedule.
Hi Everyone,I'm starting Daytona State's RN Fall 09 program. I am so excited about starting. Can't wait for orientation I have so many questions. Just wanted to chat with some other students starting this Fall in Daytona.
I recommend starting a new thread, naming it something like: Daytona State College - Fall 2009 ADN. Probably more effective than adding to a thread that bears the old name of the school. Good luck in the program!!

Anyone who is planning to take A&P @ Daytona State should take Dr. Maring. He's AWESOME. He knows his stuff and you WILL learn anatomy as long as you put the effort in.
