Has anyone appied and been accepted into the RN program at DBCC? If so what was your GPA? How were your NET scores?

i'll be doing days, even though i'm a completely nocturnal person. =D

Hello Everyone,

I am submitting my application this month for August at DSC. I WANNA GET IN!!!! LOL. No there is no stress here. LOL. I just hope all goes well!:D

I am interested in applying to the nursing program at Daytona State. I have already completed all courses except nursing classes, AP 1 and 2 and Microbiology. My question is this: I want to take at least 1 of my pre-reqs. during the summer. I am considering taking Nayar's Lecture M-Th 1130- 1:10 and Barley's lab T and Thurs. The lab runs from 1:30-4:50. In order for me to get to work on time I will need to leave Daytona by 4pm. What do you guys think of this? I have not taken a science lab so, I am not exactly sure what it entails. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

you def can't take that lab then. what about a lab that is before class?? yes, some days you may be let out a little early but if it says 4:50, it's usually 4:50. i wouldn't chance it.

i'm getting a bit nervous about finishing in december of this year. i mean, i'm anxious and excited, but it seems that so many new nurses are finding it very difficult to find a job. i'm in nsb, so i plan on either working at halifax or maybe bert fish. i have no hospital experience, but i have worked at the same restaurant for 7 years. i would rather not try to find a job as a tech. now, b/c i make more money at my current job. *shrug*

any recent daytona grads having trouble finding jobs? or how did you find a job?

How long is the program if all pre-requisites and co-requisites are done?

4 semesters fall/spring, no summer

I am going to take the Nurse Entrance Exam. I have not taken Microbiology or Anatomy. Does anyone have any advice?

Brush up on your decimals and percentages for the NET

I believe the Nursing program will accept the NET until 2010 but the testing center gives the TEA's test now. I just applied this past week and had to take the TEA's test.

:specs: Have a great day everyone.

i graduated Dec '08 and got a job right away, granted i worked as a tech at the hospital for 9 months and my nurse manager just offered it to me but in May and December hospitals have New Grad Internship programs and are hiring at that time. You might not get the floor or specialty you wanted but there are jobs available. For instance, I wanted to work at the Birth Care Center so I applied to Halifax, FL Hosp Ormond, and FL Hosp Deland and they all said they weren't taking new grads at that time. So I work on a Med/Surg floor and I'm getting that year experience then I'll reapply to those places' Birth Care Centers.

Don't worry, you'll get a job!! Just start looking in November... you'll see some positions for New Grads start to pop up and just apply!

thank you, scraig, for some soothing words.

i've been hearing about a frightening amount of hiring freezes, but i hope the situation will be somewhat alleviated by december. i also just checked job listings for bert fish, and they have several rn positions open, even for those w/o experience.
