Hey girls how did the review with Ms. Burkhart go?

Specializes in Intensive medical care.

It went pretty good I think. It really helped to tie things up for me.

Damp to dry everyone????

I nearly messed this one up. Eeek! Thankfully, before I actually opened my hand up I paused to think. Whew! Passed.

Also, whatcha think about this next test. Lots of material and I can't seem to focus.

Passed. Not looking forward to foleys.

I agree, I'm pretty nervous about this test (it's tomorrow for night classes). Seems like a lot and I feel like I'm leaving stuff out.

The also agree. It is hard to focus on this next test it seems like the information is everywhere.

Passed dressing!

passed dressing, going to skills lab sat to practice foley's, it doesn't seem hard, just need to maintain sterility. i think med pass will be tricky because we have to memorize all of the injection info.

So for the third test I would like to say ***!

Specializes in Intensive medical care.

Well, I passed the 3rd test. I hope the rest of them arent' like that because that test absolutly blew my mind. See you guys on Saturday. :redpinkhe

I did better than I had expected to do on test 3. I am pretty nervous about the foleys though.. seemed like EVERY time I tried to practice it in class I was always interrupted by another classmate giving me 'advice' or an instructor taking over to demonstrate their way of doing the skill. I would like to go to the skills lab but am not sure I will be able to make it with my work schedule. Sigh... I might be dooming myself to need 2 trys for this skill. :(

One of the day time teachers told us to use a 2 liter bottle with pillows around it, using the open end for your urinary meatus. At least you can practice your sterile field and not be interrupted by anyone.

What was up with test number 3??????

2 more weeks until clinicals! Is everyone excited or scared to death like me?

Excited and nervous. I am worried I am going to totally blank when push comes to shove and look like a complete idiot (in addition to worrying about patient safety). I know our meds are basic for med pass... but it still seems there is just so much to remember.

I also am freaking out about giving a shower without coming out as wet as the patient. I've helped my grandmother bathe and when she has the sprayer she ALWAYS managed to get me a time or two! Eek. (And our scrubs our white, lol.) I think I am going to bring a complete spare uniform to keep in my trunk for those clinical days just for peace of mind.

Side note: Anyone go to the skills lab today?? I always work overnight weekends.... so 9-12 is when I sleep. I wonder though how it went and how helpful they are...
