Anyone applying to Yale GEPN program for Fall 2009?

Published

Hi,

Since there was a very extensive thread last year about application process to Yale, I thought I would start a new thread for 2009 hopefuls. I am working on my application and wanted to know who else chose Yale as one of their options. What program? How is the application process going? Essay writing? Any anxieties? I am applying to the Adult Advanced Practice Nursing but still deciding on the specialty. The hardest part for me is the essay writing as English is not my first language, but I have been working on it for some time now and getting close to finishing the final version. Anyone else wants to share?

kimiij - I PM'ed you, just in case you did not see it (was my first time using a PM, so I'm not sure how obvious it is when you receive one). Hope to hear from you!

Hey! I replied back :)

Does anyone remember from the interview day whether Yale helps new students to find room mates? Or are we on are own?

Hey, does anyone know if there is a Facebook group started for the GEPN Fall 2009 group?

yep :) Yale University - School of Nursing Class of 2012!

search for it or PM me your face book name so I can send you all an invitation.

Thats what I'm wondering too. I'm a little nervous that I won't find a YSN roomate! But we do still have a lot of time to figure housing out.

i remember at the student affairs session the guy said that once we're admitted, they give us access to a website where people can post housing ads. does that ring a bell to anyone else? after the interview i drove around the neighborhoods that he recommended and they all looked very quaint and the homes were surprisingly really nice looking.

Yes - I think he was the dean/director of student affairs? He did say there was a website that they would send us...

I stayed with someone who lived in Wooster Square - she had a really nice 1 bedroom apartment.

i did stumble across this site, but there aren't many listings and i don't think it was what the guy from student affairs was referring to. http://www.yale.edu/livingnh/community/rental.html

are most people looking for apartments interested in 1 bedrooms or finding roomates? just wondering..

also is anyone else in this forum considering BC? I'm 90% sure I'm going to Yale, but thats the only other school I'm kind of considering...

i turned down BC because I feel its too short. I work with an RN that took a year off from BC bc she feels she isnt getting enough clinical experience....

i'm hoping to find a place with fellow nursing students. i currently live alone but don't want to pay that kind of rent if i'm not going to be working! plus, it seems like it will make the transition easier/funner if living with people going through the same thing. my only issue is that i have two cats and know that a lot of people aren't crazy about living with pets. kind of wish yale had some kind of pre-orientation over the summer for people to meet and network.

I also want to find a place with other nursing students. Living in a one bedroom is extremely expensive (my host pays over $1000 for hers). So, I would like to find a share with other students that is less than that!
