Anyone applying to USF for fall 2010?

I don't know what pending means:(. If it does mean waitlisted our deadline to accept is July 9th which is next Friday. I've never been waitlisted before but I sure have been denied. My GPA is not that high; its a 3.4 and I had A's in all the prereqs except Anat I and II.

Hi CNA Sam, thanks for the quick reply! You have been accepted to USF though right? For upper division (not 2nd Bachelor's)? I don't get it then; I feel really sick. If they go off of only GPA and I have a 3.7 and you got in with a 3.4 (which is a great GPA, by the way), I wonder what happened? The reason I think I was put on Standby was because this happened to a friend of mine for summer 2010 USF upper division and she was standby for about a week but some people declined their seats so she got in after all. I guess I will call then, and again, congrats to you and afrancis. Hoping I will be joining you both in August! :I

Congratulations CNA Sam!! and kynchanted, you really should call the school to see whats going on, because a 3.7 really should have been accepted into the upper division. Good luck and let us know what you find out. :hug:

Oh I got in to the accelerated program (2nd degree). I imagine that the upper division is a little less competitive because they accept more than 24-36 students right?

Well USF emailed me and told me that I am an "alternate" and should know if I got in by 12 July. The only way I will be getting in is if others decline their seat. So I am waitlisted. I know someone who was admitted for summer 2010 and she overheard the instructors talking and they said the cutoff GPA was 3.77. I only have a 3.70 so it will be tough I think to get in. She also said that they take 10 as alternates for the "waitlist". Wow this really sucks because my entire 2 years was paid for already too...not giving up hope yet but from my view it looks pretty grim....

I really am happy for you two, afrancis and CNA Sam, though. :) Good luck in school!

I'm sorry to hear that, nursing school is just so competitive, especially fall admittantce. I've heard that the GPA cutoff for spring and summer semesters are a bit lower. Don't give up hope, someone may give up their seat. And if not, you have an excellent gpa, you should reapply next spring if that's an option.

Hi jazziphat! For upper division admission, they use overall GPA so I was talking about overall. I don't know if that is the same for 2nd degree/accelerated though since I only looked into upper division.

overall for undergrad (upper divison) and for the accelerated they take both your overall and science prereqs (anatomy 1 and 2, micro, stats) hope that helps!

Hi There....Just wanted to reply to the two questions posed to me in your July 14th email....It's been an intense couple of weeks, but we had our last final on Thursday, so I finally feel like I can breathe. :)

To answer.....My stats are listed somewhere in the other USF thread and I might be guessing a bit here...but if recollection serves me, my overall GPA was a 3.6 and my prereq GPA was greater than a 3.8. I also had some volunteer/life experiences that I believe might have been attractive to the committee.

Things went fairly well for me this summer. It was crazy intense, but I did well.
