I am applying by February 2011 to be accepted and start the the nursing program in Fall of 2011 at the University of Memphis. Is there anyone else applying for next Fall? If so, I would love to talk to you and have someone else to share the nerves with! Thanks.

oh ok thanks for the info! also, do you know if I would be able to take summer classes too? I want to get done quick, I'm just thinking maybe not as quick as the accelerated program offers if that makes sense lol thanks again!

On the Memphis website, there is a sample curriculum plan that makes it look like it will be 5 semesters. I may try to take some classes in the summer if possible, but if not, will likely try to get a job as an extern, since we'll have 2 semesters under our belt by then.

thanks hayleyh31!! i have actually seen that curriculum, but i just wasn't sure if one of those semesters could be in the summer or not. not necessarily 18 hours worth like with the accelerated program, but at least enough to make it where we could do a fall, spring, summer, fall, spring vs. fall, spring, fall, spring, fall ya know? anyways, thanks so much!!! :)

Hey guys/gals, I have one more thing to ask. Did your major in student account information change? Somebody told me it would change, but mine still said pre-nursing. I aready turned in my acceptance letter.

See everyone this afternoon!!! In case yall didn't know, I'm Hayley :) I'll be in the black-rimmed glasses and probably looking totally overwhelmed, so come introduce yourself LOL

I'm excited to meet everyone. Hopefully some of us from allnurses will connect with each other today. My name is Kristen Oster and I will be in a white blouse and jeans, I'm sure that narrows it down, Haha -- I will also be looking very overwhelmed! See everyone there!

Hey guys! I feel like such a TARD! I totally forgot about the pre-nursing orientation we were suppose to attend this past Friday. Mrs. Hall was so kind to call me and ask me if I still wanted to attend...and I was like HECK YEAH! She sent me the paperwork and all the information but I had some questions. When are we suppose to have our background check and all that turned in? I saw a date of April and it slightly freaked me out....is this correct?

Thanks guys!!

Hey Ravenshelly! So i was kinda like you and sort of freaking about the april date, so i called brenda fortney and she said to take my time and that it wasn't a big deal at all to have everything in by then. She assured me that classes will not fill up and there is no advantage to have everything in by the first day of registration. I asked her if i was making too big of a deal about it all and she said yes definitely lol so you're good!

Nope- it just has to be turned in by sometime in August, but I wouldn't wait that long. I turned in my packet the day of the orientation because I was done and I didn't want to have to make an extra trip down to campus. I have to go get my 2nd Varicella and Hep B vaxes tomorrow, then I'm good until September when I get my final Hep B vax. I should be able to register tomorrow because I'm considered a Senior due to this being my second degree. The only benefit to that is that I'll know what my schedule looks like and I'll have more time to stress over it. haha.

Probably the only thing I learned from the orientation that I didn't already know was that the practicums are the clinicals, so anything that says practicum is a clinical and for every 1 credit hour that it has attached to it, it is equal to 3 classroom hours a week, so our first semester practicum is actually going to be 6 hours of clinicals a week b/c it's 2 credit hours a week. The clinical skills is sort of like lab and it's equal to 1 credit hour, which is equal to 3 classroom hours as well. The patho, pharm and intro to med/surg classes are all normal 3 classroom hour classes that you would normally take. I explained that to my hubby and his jaw dropped. I think seeing it in print in front of him finally made him realize how much work this was going to be.

Thanks yall! I have most of my shots since I was in the military but do need to get the TB test and probably the flu shot. I am going to go ahead and submit my background check and then wait until the time frame to do my drug test. So I can go ahead and register tomorrow even though I have not completed everything? I so wish I went to that information session. I already feel overwhelmed and school hasn't even started!! :) When do yall plan to get your uniforms and all of that?

No, You have to turn in your packet (sans the drug test) and then they will issue your permits for the classes. It doesn't really matter when you register since they pick your classes for you- it's just nice to know when you're going to be in class. My stuff was in there last night since I'd turned in my packet on the 25th. My clinical day is going to be Tuesday. :yeah: I think I'm going to try and order my uniforms this weekend, but I'm having a hard time finding not ugly white leather tennis shoes. LOL

quick question--- I turned in my health packet on Friday. Assuming the permits will be posted for me to register tomorrow, where will they be on the website? Will they by on the page that I click on to do a class search? Sorry I am just wondering if I will be able to find them easily after I click "add/drop class" Thanks!
