Anyone applying to NGCSU Fall 2012?

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hi, I'm new to this site, and I just wanted to see who has all applied to North Georgia College and State University. Anyone with experiences, or others who have applied please reply with your stats...It would be greatly appreciated!

I'm just trying to get a general idea of what my stats should be like or what I should expect if im accepted. I have a 3.5 GPA and I just recently took my TEAS saturday so I am waiting on my score (Crosses fingers) :):):):)

Thanks!

Thanks Juliekj3! That's a veryyyy good idea! I will start looking into that now! I will also have to find a place to stay if I'm accepted...so I will be loaded down with things to do if I'm a last minute decision.

I had a couple of questions for the nursing department, so I called. In the course of the conversation I found out that we are supposed to wear our blue service learning shirts and khaki's to orientation on the 16th. Did anyone get any notification of this? The order form for uniforms on the website says order by 8/16 for a 9/17 delivery and in uniform date of 10/01. The lady was such a crab and insisted that I should know! I am positive I have no info about wearing anything special on the 16th!

On another note, I'm still praying for you Ashbrock, and all who have not gotten a letter yet!!!! There's still time!!!

I did not know that. I wasn't, planning on buying my khaki till later, I am tired of buying stuff, bought my book bundle, kit and clicker on thurs and my head took a spin. $400+ that didn't include the 2 other books, got those on amazon. Thanks for informing us.

I also didn't hear anything about needing to have the service learning shirt for the 16th. I will not have mine by then, and I don't see how it can be required. The uniform order form clearly states the August deadline. Also, how could all of the newly accepted students have time to order and receive their shirts by the 16th. It sounds like whoever you spoke with was mistaken or they haven't informed any of us and can't hold us responsible for something we couldn't have been aware of. Just my opinion on that matter. I am planning on ordering my uniforms this week.

I heard that the second year students were to wear there blue shirts and khaki's. I wonder if the woman that you had spoken to was mistaken. Considering, we had a august 20th deadline to order or uniforms by. I ordered mine a week and half ago and have yet to receive them.

I wonder if we are going to hear anything before the 16th? Is anyone planning on attending the Open House at the Forsyth Campus this Thursday? Im planning on going if I can work it out. Also, has anyone taken an online class @ NGCSU before? I registered for one, but not sure how to access it once classes start. Thanks everyone....

Typo on the order by date...August 20th. I didn't give my name when I called so I was somewhat of a smart aleck when she told me we had to have our blue shirts. I told her to not count on any first year students wearing them! Jspinner: Hopefully second year students are the ones who are supposed to wear them!

Futurenurse2014: I am going to open house! I also signed up for history online. I have taken three classes online at my other school and loved them! We used an online program called Angel. It has everything you would need....comments from the teacher, blogs for the students, turnitin, timed tests, deadlines....I'm assuming NG will have a similar program. I would think we would get an email with how to register or access the site?? Online classes are crazy expensive!! I thought it was a mistake, $300 per hour!

Also, the psych book is not needed until the second year, according to the book store. I asked the nursing department (talked to several people) and they finally gave me an email for an instructor just to make sure, but she hasn't gotten back to me yet. I feel like it is pot luck when you call the nursing department!

Hi Tumbleweeds10 - Yes, I thought $300 an hour was CRAZY, too. I almost didn't do it, but I just want to get it over with.....I took some online classes and it seemed like there was more info about them, hopefully I'll figure it out :), I'm taking music appreciation UGH!!!!

2nd years were told that we needed to wear our SL shirts and khakis for Orientation.

To access the online class, go to Banner the first day of class and you should be able to get into that class there, as they'll all be listed. It's pretty easy to use. The teacher will post announcements and you'll probably have to take part in discussions via the discussion boards. Nursing classes use Banner a bunch, as well. Grades will be posted there, they'll make announcements there, your syllabus will be there, etc.

I've taken 2 history classes, music appreciation and sociology online at North Georgia. I'm taking political science this semester. The reason why the online classes are more expensive is because you aren't paying all the extra fees for those classes, like for the gym, health center, etc.

We got our Psych book in our first year bundle last year, so we don't need to buy one this year. I'm guessing it's not in your bundle this year?

I didn't hear anything about the blue shirts either. I may call the nursing department to find out tomorrow. I was accepted at the Gainesville campus but it appears that my orientation will be held at the Main campus according the acceptance letter. Is there anyone here that is going to Gainesville that will also be attending orientation at the main campus next Thursday?

Also, I had a question about the NURS 1100 class that we will be taking our first semester. It looks like we will have a class time of 630 am Wednesday and Friday until 3 pm. I'm guessing this is a part of the clinicals but I have no idea what to expect and if it starts the very first week of class or if we start that portion a few weeks later. Anyone have any insight?

I believe we will with have clinicals wed or Friday not both days for the first year. They said that we would find out which day we were scheduled for at orientation. I will be attending the Forsyth campus but will have orientation at the main campus.
