Anyone applying to NGCSU Fall 2012?

Published

Hi, I'm new to this site, and I just wanted to see who has all applied to North Georgia College and State University. Anyone with experiences, or others who have applied please reply with your stats...It would be greatly appreciated!

I'm just trying to get a general idea of what my stats should be like or what I should expect if im accepted. I have a 3.5 GPA and I just recently took my TEAS saturday so I am waiting on my score (Crosses fingers) :):):):)

Thanks!

Hello all, I applied to the nursing program for Dahlonega campus and got wait listed. I was told from my advisor that I am in the top portion of the waiting list. My hopes were renewed until I started seeing others who were wait listed now are starting to get their acceptance. We are about 6-7 weeks away away from Fall semester starting and I'm starting to panic. Does anyone know of the time frame of when they will send out the next batch of acceptance letters or at the worst... the last batch of acceptance?

Juliekj3, I'm in the same boat as you. I emailed them yesterday and he just emailed me back saying some letters went out at the end of last week. They told me I had moved up to the top of the top list so hopefully we was in that bunch.

I was waitlisted and received a call from Linda yesterday saying that I had a spot at the Forsyth campus. I am SO excited, but I am really concerned about the job market. I've been hearing that there is a surplus of licensed nurses, and that it's very difficult for a new nurse to find employment. Does anyone know if new grads from this program are finding jobs in the area? I have a family and can't move from the Atlanta area. I'm not eligible for financial aid, as I already have a bachelor's degree in another field. I'm prepared to make the investment IF there's a decent chance I can find a job at the end of it all. Anyone have similar concerns? Thanks.

What was your original spot on the waiting list of you don't mind me asking...

For those of you that need Financial Aid to pay for books, iclicker, lab kit, etc. I wanted to let you know...if you are not registered for any classes your financial aid will not be available for use until you are registered. In previous years students were registered on orientation day, or even before orientation day. That way they could get all their books on orientation day, and be prepared for the first day of class. This year they are doing things differently - we are being registered on the first day of class...which also means no access to financial aid until then. If you are on the Gainesville or Cumming campus you would have to go up to Dahlonega after class to get your books - and I feel we would already be behind not having books prior to first day.

So, I wanted to mention this. I thought if enough of us called and/or emailed the nursing department maybe we could get them to make a change. Maybe get them to register us at least on orientation day.

Driessen, Congrats! I'm personally wearing out a path to my mailbox checking everyday expecting a letter. Now I am going to run my phone battery dead checking voicemails since you've said that they called you.

Ashbrock, I was told from the beginning that I was "in the upper portion" of the waiting list and "top portion" at least 3 different times since Feb. (I've probably worn them out but asking so much). I know that the orginal letters went out in Feb. Then a few more went out in late March and some more in late May. With 3 different batches going out so far, I'm starting to wonder about how many people are in each portion of the waiting list. I applied for Dahlonega first priority and Gainesville second. This whole process has me completely on edge!

AshBrock, Please let us know if you get that long awaited letter ;)

Actually I called financial aid, and they said if we are registered on the first day of class we most likely won't have access to our financial aid until the next day (Tuesday 8/21).

I was originally in the middle group top portion and when those letters went out in June they said I moved up to the top of the top, and I also applied to dahlonega as my first choice and Gainesville as my second...but I will be sure to let you know! Hopefully it's sometime this week!

Also congrats to Driessen!

Also congrats Driessen!

I hate it too, I wanted to know how much financial aid would even pay since, we won't be full time. I was tempted to register 6 credit worth bogus classes and drop them, but even if we had the aid the book store said we can't use it till first day of school, so I am going to get them. I was going today, but then I worked overnight and was too stoned to drive that distance from Marietta. So if we are on the other campuses we won't have to drive up to register on 20th? I was worried about that.
