Hi, I'm new to this site, and I just wanted to see who has all applied to North Georgia College and State University. Anyone with experiences, or others who have applied please reply with your stats...It would be greatly appreciated!
I'm just trying to get a general idea of what my stats should be like or what I should expect if im accepted. I have a 3.5 GPA and I just recently took my TEAS saturday so I am waiting on my score (Crosses fingers) :):):):)
Thanks!
Class usually started at either 9 or 10, depending on the semester. We had to be at clinical on the floor by 6:30. It took me about 45 mins to get there.
Thanks for all your help, you are a life saver. If clinicals would be at north side, that would be perfect. I found a few daycare's last night that open at 6:00.. Now I need to figure out how I am going to afford rent whiles in school...can't wait!!!!!
NAA MOMO,
The hospitals that 1st year students went to last year were: Northeast Georgia, Johns Creek, the hospital in Dahlonega and one further north (blanking on their names). Unless things have changed, no one did clinicals at Northside Forsyth. But, I know some classmates that lived in Cumming and went to the Forsyth location for class and did their clinicals at Northeast Georgia. They took backroads to get there. I live in Suwanee and it took me about 45 mins to get to Gainesville, so I left an hour early to give me some wiggle room. The only good thing about leaving that early is that there isn't much traffic on 985 at that hour!
I didn't go up and get mine, but I did call yesterday and confirm the price. The book bundle is $260.20 + tax. They also have some of the lab kits in as well, and I didn't confirm the price, but I believe they said it was right around $100.
I did get my uniforms in the mail yesterday, and I will say for the pants - you should order true to size. If you wear a 8-10 in regular pants, then order the corresponding pants size (which I believe is a small). If you wear a 16-18, then order a Large in the pants. Check the website sizing guide - I'm just using examples from memory.
As for the top I don't even know exactly how it should fit, but I think mine fits a little bit too snug. I'd like to go ahead and return it for the next size up...but I am in the process of losing weight and even 20 lbs I think would make a huge difference. So I'm not sure what to do.
I really don't know how they should look anyway. It's fine in the front, it's the back part where the fabric cinches in - it just hugs all the wrong places on my body.
My husband says it looks fine, but I'm not all that thrilled with it.
The lab coat is fine, it's a bit big, but I guess that's how lab coats are anyway.

NAA MOMO,
I have a few classmates in my class who live in the Marietta area and I think the drive is between 1-1.5 hours to get to the Gainesville campus. How far is it from where you live to the Forsyth campus? Remember that you probably won't have school as early as 6:30 but you'll definitely have to be at your clinical site no later than 6:30. You could be in Gainesville, Dahlonega or Johns Creek. We were told that 2nd year students should be prepared to go anywhere in Metro Atlanta, basically from Decatur, to Atlanta, to the mountains. Peds is definitely at CHOA, which could be Atlanta or Decatur. OB could be Gainesville, Johns Creek, Dahlonega or DeKalb Medical Center. Psych might be who knows, as no one seems to know.
If you don't want to rely on friends, I would think your best bet would be to find something closer to school, so you can drop your child off and get to clinicals on time. I know there are 24 hour day cares in Lawrenceville near Gwinnett Medical Center so there should be some near Northside Forsyth, which is in Cumming right off 400. Have you looked for rentals on Craigslist?
