I'm a nervous wreck! I sent in my application a few weeks ago and now begins the long wait! I've searched all the threads on this site for Navarro information and have seen a lot of posters saying they didn't get into the program on their first try. I attended one of the very first information sessions back in October and there weren't that many of us, but the instructor said they usually have 500+ applicants! I know that's pretty standard for NS programs, but what type of chance does that leave me?!
Here's my stats: GPA 3.8
I got as many of the points as I possibly could: A's and B's in pre-req's and I've taken all the "suggested courses" too so that's a few more points each.
My TEAS score was a 90.5. I think she said the cutoff was 87.5, so that puts me just over their cutoff for even looking at the app. I just don't know what else I can do if I don't get in. I guess I'd go back and re-take AP 1 and 2 and try to get A's.
Anyone else care to share their experiences and what got you into Navarro or that you're applying this year and waiting with me?

Don't worry! Im currently in the lvn program at Navarro, but plan to bridge over. I have a family member who got into the lvn/rn bridge last year and he didn't have anywhere near that gpa. You will probably get in no problem. Good luck! The wait really stinks tho : )
Thanks for the reply! How are you liking the LVN program? I've heard only good things about it. In fact, my nurse at my regular doctor's office graduated from Navarro in 2006 and highly recommended it.

I can almost guarantee you will get in with that Teas score. My friend got in last yeat with a 90 TEAS score and at that point she hadn't even finished microbiology or anatomy 2. You will get in most likely. If you register for chemistry and statistics (I just went to the info session on Jan 7th) you will get 10 extra points. It just has to be completed by the time the program starts. You also send a letter in stating you plan to pursue your BSN and what school you would do that at. Good luck, but honestly yo are in! The TEAS is the BIGGEST factor by far in their ranking.
Don't we send the letter or just the admissions Pre Reqs paper of the BSN school we want to attend? I went last October and Ive had forgot about that and I'm registered for chemistry this spring too! lol

Thanks! I did both and got the points. I forgot to include those in the original post.
mgorvie-it's actually 2 separate items. You can register for chemistry and/or statistics anywhere you want to take them. You will send a copy of your schedule showing that you are registered to take them before the fall.
The second item was your BSN intent. I think I just typed up a quick letter saying I was going for the BSN, where I planned to go, and a copy of their pre-reqs that I had completed.

Was it full? The one in October wasn't very full, maybe 30 people there, but she said that was unusual.

I read that here too and was freaked out! I bought the study guide and went over and over the reading section and pre-tests in it. I didn't do very well on the pre-tests in the study guide. When I took the test, it was *similar* to the guide, but also a little easier, imo. There were some really easy questions that helped balance out some of the harder comprehension ones.
Get that study guide and you'll do fine! Good Luck! :)
Thank you for your replies! Hopefully I pass and good look to you! :)
I'm sure everyone is still waiting for acceptance letters? I think denials have started going out, but no acceptance I don't think. I haven't gotten anything, but if I do get accepted, which I have no idea, I will decline, because got accepted into TWU BSN program starting Fall 2011! So, someone that doesn't get in, if I did, they will get to fill my spot!!! Good luck to everyone, I know waiting sucksssss
Wow, so they send out denials before acceptance? I wish they'd just send them out at the same time. At the info session, she said it'd be the last week of March or first week in April. I finally broke down and called them last Monday and she said it'd now be mid-to-late April. Grr! I'm so frustrated!
Make sure to post back if you receive any letters. I hope it's sooner rather than later.
Gous1234-Congrats on your acceptance to TWU!

Anyone heard back from Navarro? I am still waiting on my letter. Glad to see that they changed the date. Not sure if that is good or bad.
