Hi! I would reccomend taking some pre-req's at Madonna because they want you to have at least 12 credits there when you apply for the nursing. I am just starting my first semester of nursing and I will graduate Winter Semester 2013. Hope that helps.

Hello! Sorry to butt in, but are the 12 credits at Madonna required or just preferred? I've looked into Madonna a little, seems to be an excellent school. Are they pretty good with offering financial assistance?

Yes the twelve credit hours are preferred last I heard but not required. I absolutely love it there, the teachers are great and the classes are small its really nice. Yes they offer a lot of financial assistance. There are tons of privtae schlorarships, and other things. I get everything and I also get a grant from the school so there is a lot of opportunity for that. If I didn't take extra out to pay for my kids child care I would probably get by just on my grants and stuff. One other thing that I hear all the time is that it's so expensive because it's private but when you actually look into it, it's the same price as wayne states nursing and actually cheaper if you compare and add in each schools fees.

Thanks for the info!

i'm so000 ready to start the program and begin my career as a nurse ive had a few set backs and i'm really focus now and think this is the time to do it! i do want to ask u iluvpatho my friend finished in 2yrs do u think its because she took many courses at once how does that work? are u taking a full course load or part time? my plans are to apply this summer to the nursing program they say you can apply as a prenursing student so hopefully that goes as planned good luck keep us all posted on the experience in the program!!!:yeah:

Well they do offer a part time program but I'm not doing it andI don't know any that are. The schedule is pretty much fixed and you really don't get to pick anything or take more or less courses. The old program used to be 4 semesters long and the new one taht started this fall is 5 semesters long. Essentially its 2 and a half years long which is the shortest BSN prgram that I know of unless you are going for an accelerated second degree. Your course load can vary because of gen ed classes only. For example I have completed almost all of mine so all I have left are nursing classes so my schedule is pretty light, but either way you have to take the nursing courses in order.

Hi iluvpatho,

I haven't been on here in a while and I noticed you left me a message. For some reason I don't know why I can't reply, so I figured I'll post here. How is the nursing program for you?? I actually got wait listed since I was taking micro and patho together when I applied. So I finally get to start this upcoming Fall, I just hope it is as hard as I hear because this semester was soooo borrrring!!!!:D

Congrats!!!!! Yes I think I left that message forever ago :) It's going good but is not terribly hard but a bit time consuming..Theres a lot of little stuff added in all the time and health assessment was a bit harder the other class is pretty easy but theres just a lot of papers, projects, lab stuff added to lots of exams but I heard the 2nd semester is supposed to be harder and then the 3rd is harder then the 2nd (actually I heard from a friend in that semester and my advisor). Anyhow you may be disappointed lol cause it isn't that bad but I enjoyed it and am so glad to be finishing my first semester!!!!!!!!!!! One down four to go :) I can give some easy advice though, get your health papers in early cause a lot of us put it off and then you get kinda wrapped up in the semester and that was a dumb thing to have to worry about in between papers and exams :) Good Luck!!!!!

Sounds very exciting!!! But ya thank you for the heads up, I plan on reading both books during the summer to help keep those subject fresh in my head. This semester I ended up taking every general eds. course left and none of them had anything to do with nursing!!!! Anyways congrats on getting through your first semester, those 4 left will fly by super fast. I heard scary stories about pharmacology, but I also heard those same stories about patho and micro and both were a joke! The fun starts when you start doing clinicals; that I am looking forward to!!:clown:

Hi! I did my advising appointment and I got the information on how to apply to the upper division Nursing. I signed up to take the TEAS in June and then I just have to work on Goal Statement that is due in July. Does anybody know if there is a specific upper division application you have to fill out? I was just curious. I didn't notice it in the information the advisor gave me.

No your letter of intent is considered your application. If the advisor you spoke with didn't tell you, they want you to have it in a few weeks before the dead-line. Good Luck!!!! It seems like it was just last summer I was getting my stuff all in, time goes sooo fast :)
