Anyone applying to ASN program at Santa Fe CC in Gainesville, FL?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I just applied for the first time to the RN program at SFCC in Gainesville, FL. They are on a points system and its very competitive like all the other programs out there. Anyway, just wanted to see if there was anyone else out there that applied or is going to apply there. Maybe we could chat while we wait out decisions arriving in the mail.

I submitted my application Friday, deadline is May 31st. I won't find out until the first week of July. Its not uncommon to not get in the first time around. I had also applied to UF's accelerated BSN program and got rejected. Not looking forward to another rejection, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if that happens here too. Just anxious and this wait is going to be terrible.

Its supposed to be a great program and I really hope that I get the opportunity to be a part of it.

Anyway, good luck to anyone who is applying!

I am not working. I am under the impression that we will have class everyday, I guess if we don't it will be a great way to utilize the nursing sim room and to study. I decided not working would be the best way for me to succeed.

I wish i could do that unfortunatly financially its not a possibility. If we have class everyday then I will probably just work weekends or something, I guess I will know for sure aug 19th.

Well I don't have the luxury of not working, so I am just taking out private loans.

So, royal blue scrubs with a nursing patch? Can any of you ladies sew it on for me?

Hm...sew your patch on? I am going to have to ask my mom do it for me. I am hoping it is actually an iron on.

Anyways, you will all come to find out that I am not the most domestic of people. The best thing I can do in the kitchen is order take out, I don't separate my laundry (just through it all in together), and I pay someone to clean my house. So...sewing...isn't really my forte, lol.

Is there a certain shade of royal blue I should be looking for, or does royal blue take care of it?

I don't know but what i do know is I'm nervous as hell to start. I work in a hospital already but I am sure that isn't gonna prepare me for what''s in store. In orientation we should find out what brand or what color scrubs we need. I am more worried about how I'm gonna survive with a chid who has sensory integration and how I will finish nursing school at the same time. :( This is gonna be a challenge but I am surely up for it.

I am so excited to start! Not really nervous, just excited. The scrubs can be any brand, any style, just have to be royal blue. I am slowly accumulating the things I need, a watch, scrubs, a stethoscope, school supplies, etc. I guess not that slowly, but I am accumulating, lol. I am also ready a book that is great, and getting me back into school mode.
