Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program

Published

I didn't see a thread on AVC nursing so I just made one for everyone. IS anyone applying to AVC nursing or in the program already? The person working at the department told me it would be like 3 semester waits. I'm expecting to get in around fall 2011 or spring 2012 since I turn in my application around October 2010. Anyone in the program already, would you please share your experience. Anyone who is about to get in the program, can you please tell me how long you've waited since the time you turn in the application?

Thanks everyone!!!

Just found out i'm 62 on the wait list for generic program! So I'm assuming and hoping that means I should definitely be in for fall semester this year. They take 60 for the fall semester! Odds should be in my favor that at least 2 people don't start or don't pass the TEAS!

Hi, I want to start studying for the TEAS & I was referred to -Version V of the TEAS study manual (which can be found either at the campus bookstore or atitesting.com).Well, my dilemma is when I went online to look for the manual there is more than one option. - "Version V - The TEAS V study manual (specific to TEAS version V)"-"Version V PACKAGE- with the TEAS V study manual and online practice assessments (form A and B)"The study manual (only) is about $46 & the package is $99. I'm guessing the package has more study material? I want to know what previous TEAS test takers suggest. I would like to go for the cheaper option, but also want to go prepared, so, if I need to I'lll buy the package.

Hi, where did you purchase the study book from?

I took the TEAS in November and I just ended up buying the ATI Study Manual off of EBay for $25. I felt pretty confident in the Reading/Comprehension because I already have a BA in English but Math and Science were my weakest points so I just focused on the problems there. I ended up scoring an 84.7 on the TEAS. If I had to do it over, I would have focused entirely on the Math. If you know basic algebra/decimals/fractions you will be great. To this day I have no idea how I made it through Calculus because math and I are sworn enemies :-p

Originally 200 something, then 196, now 124.... I applied in October 2013, so the list is moving pretty fast, for me at least.

So sorry I didn't check back on this! I applied June 17th 2013 and was 156.. I take my teas tomorrow! Yikes!

Are you in the program yet? :) I wish you success in the program, a speedy job after you pass the NCLEX, and hope that you can continue a tradition with me of giving back to someone else in need of uniforms and/or books or anything to help a nursing student. :)

Hi Skybmonkey. I am in the program and I start the transition course on July 1. Can I pick your brain about the schedule? Is the program three days a week, or is it 4?

I was 74 on the wait list and m now 3.. Missed it by 3! :/ so did you get to start? Good luck in the program! Keep us all posted on the process!

I did for file a challenge for one of their pre-requisites (physiology), because I took medical physiology at another college. They did grant me the petition to challenge it, but by the time that was done I was already half way through their online physiology class, so I just decided to finish the semester.

#69 on waiting list right now.... Hopefully I'm in by Spring 2015.
