I didn't see a thread on AVC nursing so I just made one for everyone. IS anyone applying to AVC nursing or in the program already? The person working at the department told me it would be like 3 semester waits. I'm expecting to get in around fall 2011 or spring 2012 since I turn in my application around October 2010. Anyone in the program already, would you please share your experience. Anyone who is about to get in the program, can you please tell me how long you've waited since the time you turn in the application?
Thanks everyone!!!
hey mayelvn, i'll be joining you in the transition class in january too. the schedule does look intense. i already ordered the books from on-line and save lots. as for your questions, i would start by calling the list of companies av recommended. i did my at sixcess and it was very reasonably priced for the 10 panel and alcohol. you should call them and ask if you can do the alcohol alone. i'm going to turn in all my documents tomorrow so i can register for class.
Hi guys!
I am a new student to AVC and I am highly interested in the nursing program. I recently transfered here and I have my old transcripts from the last community college I went to. Can anyone give me someone assistance as to what is next for me? I know I need to talk to a counselor to get my transcripts reviewed so that I don't have to start all over with my general studies. I dont have the pre-re's done yet so I know I need to get going on that. Can any of you reccomend me some good instructors for the next semester??
Thanks!
/has anyone received their packet or registered for classes yet? i have not received anything but i am almost done with all the stuff i need to turn in. i still need to do the drug test and get my malpractice insurance. i want to hurry up and get the packet so i can turn in my stuff and register
kdbean530- Thank you for replying :)
I don't have my prerequisites done at all. I don't have a science yet I did bio at my old college, but got a D. I already made an appt with a counselor but its not til dec 7. I've been going thru the IGETC package from my old college. I was trying to look up classes for ant and phs and they are already full. In order for me to take one of the classes I need Chem as one of the prerequisites. Do you guys know if AVC has a cna course? That way I will have an idea of the field work and such. Thanks guyS!
Monitron-you will have to take bio 101 before you can get into anatomy, Chem 101 and bio 101 before you can do micro, and anatomy done before you can take phys. I took bio and chem first, then micro cuz anatomy was full, then anatomy, then phys. Somewhere in there I took English also cuz that is a pre req. so I would recommend taking bio 101 and/or Chem 101 for the next semester.
A for some of the classes being closed, some people have priority registration and are already allowed to register. If you want to get into anatomy, the only way to really do so is get a high priority. That class fills up in a matter of days.
I don't think AVC has a cna program, but they do have an lvn program. I hear there is a wait list for it though.
It seem like a lot of work just to apply for the rn program, and it takes a lot of time, but it goes by fast. Just take it one semester at a time.
